The JjK men reacting to finding out youâre infertile. This was honestly a self-indulgent fic idea but then it won on the poll I put out and honestly I was kinda surprised people were interested! Yall picked the only fic I didnât have finished but I do now so here it is! If youâd like a part 2 let me know! +what characters!
Toji
You didnât tell him until years into the relationship. Sure maybe that wasnât the healthiest thing but oh well things happened and you couldnât change the past. And it took so long for Toji to trust you⌠that you just didnât want to add another thing on top of it to deal with. I mean it took him almost a year for him to introduce you to his kids. It took him that long just to feel serious about your relationship.
And itâs not like he asked either, or used a condom. Cmon, we all know his history with women and he just kinda presumed you were on the pill, or that heâd deal with the consequences after the fact. He had two kids, this wasnât his first time around the block. And even after he got serious with you he never brought up wanting to have another. His hands were full, and besides he wasnât very well off. I mean you guys made it work, but that was just with the 4 of you, who knows what adding another would do.
So the conversation didnât happen until probably 5⌠maybe 6 years in. Where you both had pretty much decided that you were stuck with each other. That if you lost each other at this point in life there would be no reason to restart the process of finding someone new all over again. He trusted you, and god that meant a lot coming from a man like Toji, his goal was to protect his kids and now you along with them.
Laying on the couch one night, one kid off at a sleepover the other supposed to be returning home soon. You guys trusted them⌠maybe a lil too much. Head resting on his chest, listening to the way his heart pounded, like it wanted to leap out of his chest and make it known just how much he loved you, how much joy he found being with you. Something he thought heâd never find again after the loss of his first wife, and the second one leaving him.
Some thriller played in the background, some movie franchise Toji was secretly a big fan of. Half empty beers sitting on the coffee table, one of his hands softly scratching your back, softer than the man had ever been before. You, aimlessly fiddling with his other hand that adorned his shiny wedding ring, one that matched yours, deciding on simple ones that didnât cost much, but meant a lot.
âHey Toji?â You muttered out, voice weaker than you intended, his hand on your back instinctively tightened, a simple grunt in response. Your tone of voice worried him, that tone always did, meant youâd ruin the peace with something serious, as heâd always say. But really he was just always worried itâd be something so serious that heâd end up losing you.
When you didnât continue, he grumbled, ready for you just to spit it out. This type of atmosphere either had 1 of 2 endings to whatever conversation was going to happen, either you were super upset over something really really detrimental or it was something silly you were getting all caught up on. âWhat is it woman? Youâre ruining the movie,â his words were harsh, but you were long past the phase of wondering if he was mad at you over simply the way he normally spoke.
âWellâŚ.Did you ever⌠I donât know⌠question why I was so excited that you had kids?â You hummed out softly, your hand that was fiddling with the ring on his finger slowly moving to hold his hand instead. Toji had once in the past let it slip that when he had tried dating before you he often got hurt cause they didnât want to deal with his already pre-started family. He sighed knowing you were overthinking something, âMmm, not really, was just grateful,â that was one of the first time you had actually heard him be so openly heartfelt.
âOhâŚ. Well itâs cause I canât have my own,â you hummed softly. His expression didnât change, nothing more than an eyebrow quirking up, âIs that so doll?â He mumbled, already deciding this convo was one of the silly ones, aka option 2. You took his response as him just simply brushing you off, watching his eyes reconnect with the tv screen and his hand that was intertwined with yours, now reaching for his beer bottle, âThose kids, Megumi and Tsumiki, are just as much yours now as they are mine.â Everything he had needed to say was in that one little sentence alone.
Your eyes widened, âOh Toji,â you muttered softly, holding back tears, âOh Jesus donât cry,â he huffed, resuming his hand on your back, rubbing soft soothing circles. Reaching his head down to press a kiss to the top of your head but in his head he was just glad this was one of your silly overthought moments.
Nanami
You told him on your 3rd date. Nanami was a classy man, made you feel really stupid for some of the guys you had dated in the past, so you wanted to treat him right just as he treated you.
On your first date he was stiff, and awkward even, but it was endearing in a way. You both had worked together so there was no reason for him be worried but it was nice to know that someone like Nanami could be nervous. That date was a dinner date.
Your second was a bit more relaxed, a bowling alley, an idea recommended by Gojo an annoying coworker you both shared (and bonded over complaining about). It was nice cause Nanami could get a few drinks in, relax a bit, unbutton the top button of his shirt. Strike some strikes and whatever else you did in bowling. It was nice.
Your third date was a walk through the park, a bit more impromptu but you had decided this one, invited him on it too. It was after an early mission, so you two were done around the afternoon. The sun was warm, flowers blooming, walking side by side down some path. And of course the relationship wasnât official but Nanami knew from the first time he had saw you he wanted you.
His hand was placed respectfully on your lower back, of course after making sure you were ok with it, and trees lined the pathway you were walking on. He had haphazardly stuck a flower in your hair, one he had picked along your walk.
He was warm, comforting, made you feel like you could be you, so you wanted to be honest. âKento⌠are you sure Iâm the one you want?â You asked gently, eyes nervously looking up at him as you bit your lip, awaiting his response.
âOf course,â he scoffed, he may be a gentleman but he sure was sassy. âWhy wouldnât I?â He hummed tilting his head down to look at you. âWell⌠I just think some of are goals donât align,â you sighed and an eyebrow raise from him was all you needed to know that he was listening.
âWell IâŚ. Look⌠I canât⌠I canât give you a family,â you muttered looking away, your body becoming rigid against his, âAnd what do you mean by that?â His voice stern, impending, but not harsh just⌠curious. âWell⌠I canât exactly procreate and it be successfulâŚyou get it?â You mumbled under your breath as you picked at the sides of your nails.
Oh, thatâs what you meant. He nodded more as a confirmation for his inner thoughts than anything you said, he brought one of his free hands to swat at yours that were picking, âThatâs fine,â he shrugged looking back ahead at the path.
âWhat?â You half yelled definitely hearing some bird flying away from you at the disturbance, âBut you.. didnât you wanna settle down? Have a family? Iâve heard you talk about it,â you grumbled.
He rolled his eyes, âSure I did, but none of that would mean anything without you,â he hummed, stopping to face you. Tilting your head up by your chin, tired eyes meeting yours, âI want you and you alone. If I canât have children so be it. Youâre enough for me.â
And needless to say it was definitely official after that.
Sukuna
The king of curses was already a very scary man, and honestly talking to him could be quite⌠difficult to say the least. So you swore off to never tell him. And he didnât even want the little rascals anyway.
Children were too⌠annoying for someone who was already so irritating himself, and a little one just like him? Hell would freeze over if that happened.
But he couldnât deny that you made him ponder. What would it be like? Having one.. or possibly two that were a mix of you both. Or better yet heâd like it more if they were exactly like you. The world would be a better place with only one version of Sukuna Ryomen in it.
Yet he didnât think of it often. But you knew you had to come clean soon, you could feel the way he glared at your stomach as if trying to stare straight into your uterus. When really he was just trying to figure it if you could even carry a baby from a cursed spirit like him⌠or if he could get a mere mortal pregnant.
He started trying to, oh so so hard to get you pregnant, every single time burying himself all the way before shooting his load. Yet you never showed any signs. Maybe he was simply incapable. That made him frown.
And that was when you hit a dry spell. He had become so worried that he was shooting blanks or that it was simply impossible to have kids because he was a curse. He was a lot more grouchy, and a lot less touchy. Sukuna already found cuddling and the sorts useless but now? Oh heâd barely look at you now.
He was always easily agitated so you often had found it easier to avoid conflict but he was making it seem like you didnât even exist. One night you burst into his chambers, a little more attitude in the way you shoved the doors open than you usual.
âTell me,â you called out standing firmly at the edge of his bed, fuming as your first clenched. His raspy, booming laugh resounding amongst the room. âTell you what exactly? I owe you nothing,â he hummed remaining in his relaxed position on his lavishly large bed.
âYouâve barely spoken to me or even looked at me in a week? You used to be insatiable what is the problem!â You scrambled out. He clicked his tongue as he rolled his eyes, âTsk, itâs none of your business how I spend my time. If it bothers you then shoo.â
You groaned, you knew him better than that, he wasnât being truthful. âSukuna tell me or I will leave this time, I am done playing this game with you.â Narrowing his eyes he took a good long pause before speaking, pointing down to your abdomen, âYou show no signs of pregnancy despite multiple times in the bedroom. Iâm confused arenât most women your age fertile?â He jested, quirking a brow.
âOh,â you muttered straightening up as you sighed. He sensed the noticeable change, âYour soulâs wavering, you know I can feel it, spit it out,â he said, glaring at you, but his look was one more of concern, you could always tell the difference. âWell I uhâŚâ
You walked around to sit on your side of the bed, really heâd never call it that to your face, before you heâd always just sprawled out. Now he made sure to leave that space empty. âLook IâŚ. I canât have em,â his brow raised, âHave what? Youâre being cryptic mortal.â
You groaned, âKids! I canât have kids,â that was laughable. Wait you werenât joking? Sukuna quickly realized that, âWhat are you deformed?â He teased but it didnât help the way your eyes got all dewy. He grumbled, he may be practically a demonâŚ.. but he did care enough for you to be in his bed next to him.
âSo you cannot produce my heir,â and all you could respond with was a shake of your head, confirming. To Sukuna this made him feel a million times better. He wasnât shooting blanks you simply just werenât able to be impregnated. He was joyous if not for the tone of the situation.
âDoes not matter,â you shot your head over, a confused look on your face. âYou wouldnât have been able to carry my baby anyways, Iâm far too powerful for a mortal to carry my heir,â he teased, and while he had his signature smirk you could see the slight tenderness through it.
This may have been one of the only times he seemed to have understood your turmoil. And also the only time for him to have been the first one to initiate physical contact, pulling you into his chest. One hand running protectively over your back, another in your hair, the other two wrapping around you. âDo not fret, calm your soul dear,â his deep voice muttered out soothingly. And that was probably the best you had ever slept.

Day 6: Song of the Wind
@azrielappreciationweek
The screams got louder after the sound of the first fallen building.
âPlease,â you whispered aloud to nobody. âPlease, make them stop.â
Hybern were destroying your city. And there wasnât anything you could do. Your powers were never the strongest. You were always the one that didnât manage to do all the impressive things all your friends and family did.
A scream let your lips as a huge piece of the roof fell down around you.
You definitely had to get out.
As pulled yourself up from the floor you felt your entire body shaking from fear. Your hands felt numb and you struggled to move your feet forwards.
If only you could winnow.
You carefully looked outside the window of your home. You had to hold your hand to your mouth to stop your scream as you saw your dead neighbors laying in the street.
In the end of the street you saw at least fifteen Hybern soldiers. They were blocking your only way out.
You were going to die. You were going to die as your neighbors already had.
Tears pressed through your eyes as you tried to figure out what to do next.
Maybe if you just stayed here, they would think that they had killed everyone and wouldnât see you. But if you stayed and they found you, you wouldnât have any way out.
âWell, well boys,â you heard a voice from the group of soldiers. âWhy donât you just stop this now.â
You once more dared to peek outside the door.
Two huge illyrians stood in the middle of the Hybern soldiers.
The soldiers didnât plan to stop at all. It only took one nod from their commander to start attacking the Illyrians.
Fifteen against two. They were stupid. They would never get out of this.
But then you saw the first soldier fall, and suddenly five more, and then some of them flew. And it was only five against two.
Your eyes widened at the Illyrians movements. They had total control. They fought separately, but helped each other when they needed it.
After a while, the Hybern soldiers had either left or been killed. And the illyrians looked unharmed.
âLook for survivors, Iâll make sure they donât destroy all of Adriata,â one of them said. He had long hair sat up in a bun and he wore seven red pieces of jewelry. And then he flew away.
The remaining illyrian started to walk from fae to fae. Even though his face remained neutral, but you could still see that he felt devastated.
He looked scary, but also kind in a way.
He moved closer to you and you were unsure what to do. If you stayed still, he probably wouldnât find you. But if Hybern returned you would be dead.
Could you trust the male? Unfortunately, you didnât have time to make up your mind.
You got the uncomfortable feeling that you were being watched.
You slowly raised your head and the illyrian looked directly at you.
He looked at you almost shocked. Like his entire life had just been changed. His eyes were wide and his lips were parted. You almost looked confused at him.
âHi,â he said quietly.
You couldnât answer. You got so scared. Your hands were shaking and your heart was beating out of your chest.
You didnât want to die.
âAre you unharmed?â He asked you next. His voice was nervously low and unsteady.
You still couldnât answer.
He stepped a little bit closer to you. And before you could think you stepped away from him.
âIâm Azriel,â he said. âIâm from the Night Court and weâve come to help.â
His voice was almost soft. And when you took a little time to actually look at him, you saw how handsome he was even though his face was grave.
âDo you want me to get you out of here? The High Lords palace has been made to a safe place for everyone,â he spoke again.
Your entire body told you to trust him, but your mind held you back.
âHere,â he said next. âTake this.â
He moved his hands to his hips and pulled up a knife and held it in front of him. And then black shadows picked the knife from his hand and transported it through the air towards you.
You were about to move further away from them when they carefully laid the knife on the ground and retreated a little.
âYou can defend yourself if you feel unsafe,â Azriel said.
Maybe youâd meet your family at the palace. Or some of your friends. It would definitely be better than staying here.
âHow would we get there?â You asked him.
His eyes widened again at the sound of your voice. You could see the smallest bend in his knees and a small twitch in his hand.
Right after, also the shadows moved. It was only a small moment, but they moved towards you.
âWe would have to fly,â he answered. âWeâll fly close to the ground so that you can leave easily.â
For some unknown reason, your heart managed to tell you that it would be alright. That youâd die either way, so why not experience flying.
You moved swiftly to pick up the knife without looking at him.
âHow do we do this?â You looked at him first after you had the knife safely in your hand.
He looked surprised that you decided to go with him. He almost had to drag himself out of his thoughts. A small smile grew on his no longer neutral face.
âCan I pick you up?â He asked.
You nodded before you could overthink.
He moved carefully towards you and you made sure to notice his every move.
He stopped when he stood only a meter away.
âIâll pick you up now.â
You nodded again.
He bended his knees and laid his arm under your knees. He looked at you before his every move to make sure you wouldnât hurt him.
His other hand touched your back and he lifted you off the ground.
âOkay?â
You nodded.
âI wonât drop you, but it would be better if you held onto me,â Azriel explained.
You did as he said. And with the knife still in your hand, you held onto him as he started to fly.
The second you left the ground, you let out a small scream.
âIâm sorry,â Azriel whispered.
You couldnât hold back as tears left your eyes and your entire body started to shake. You were going into complete panic.
Then, suddenly you felt something dry your tears. You opened your eyes and looked at the shadow that tried to comfort you. It felt soft and gave you a little feeling of warmth.
As you opened your eyes, you also noticed how far off the ground you were. You tensed a little.
âShould I fly closer to the ground?â He asked you.
Surprising yourself, you shock your head. You choose to look up instead of down.
The wind in your hair, the pretty blue sky and the calm movement in the clouds, calmed your heart.
The shadow moved away from your cheek and landed on your chest just above your heart.
âThey like you,â Azriel said.
And you looked at him. Suddenly you noticed his smell. It was the most beautiful smell you had ever experienced. And his eyes. They were hazel with a glow.
âTheyâre cute,â you answered him and then moved your gaze toward the sky once more.
You flew the remaining minute in silence.
âIâm going to descend to the ground now,â his soft voice said.
As you landed outside the open door to the palace, he sat you down on the ground and let go of you.
The relief of being on the ground was overshadowed by the loss of contact.
You looked up at him and he looked back at you. Directly into your eyes.
âThank you,â you said.
âNo problem,â he answered and after a few seconds he continued. âGlad youâre safe.â
You gave him a small smile and handed him back his knife.
âAzriel!â The illyrian from earlier called him and came running. âWe have to go now.â
Azriel looked back and fourth between you and the illyrian.
âY/N!â
Relief filled your body as you heard your brotherâs voice. You turned and was immediately engulfed in his hug.
âThank the mother,â he whispered. âWe have to get you to mom, sheâs freaking out.â
He started to lead you away from your hero and you joined him, but not before you had turned your head to look back at Azriel.
You had to smile as you noticed that he also looked back at you. He gave you a small smile and you were about to do the same, when you felt it.

i desperately need a 15 year old STILES after sneaking his dad's whisky one night, you by his side, sitting on the flat-enough roof of his garage as you both stared up at the night sky. he'd be naming facts about the stars and constellations, but you're paying the most attention to the celestial pattern of moles that cupped his left ear. how they danced when he spoke. his voice was so soothing, so melodic, that it filled you with such a dizzying warmth that you nearly missed what he said.
"where do you think we'll be in ten years?"
he spoke quietly - as if he were scared that anything louder would burst the bubble that you both have settled within. but it still caught your attention and your tipsied mind focused on the way his breathing was slow as his chest rose and fell.
a hum sounded in your throat, "i've never thought about it."
a slight breeze would push between you both - the californian air picking up as the early hours drew near, a cooling contrast to the usual heat offered by the sun. it prompted stiles to shuffle closer toward you.
"do you think you'll be married? have a family, livin' in one of those big houses with the white picket fence?"
he was rambling now. the inebriation taking his mind hostage, forcing scenarios and pictures to flash in front of his hazy brown eyes. these thoughts were usually reserved for that place between sleep and awake; when life slowed down, when troubles and pleasures lost their term and melded into fantasies that lulled one into a deep slumber.
stiles turned when the answer was lost on your tongue. his eyes were lidded, but focused, tracing lazily over your features before stopping on the parting of your lips. a softened sigh fell from them and he was mesmerised.
"twenty-five is still young, i could be travelling the world."
stiles chuckled. he adored the way thought. it was a mere moment, a small second among the vastness of the world that fell perfectly silent on this starry night, before he shifted onto his side. his arm propped up the sobering weight of his head but he was comfortable, his body settling as soon as he laid eyes on a view that beat out every single twinkling star.
he was staring at you but neither cared.
"what about thirty, then?"
his voice was hopeful and you couldn't grasp why, instead believing that the way stiles was towering over you provided the perfect warmth and shield from the breeze.
"thirty, maybe. if anyone would wanna marry me."
your fingers twitched, reaching for a bottle that was running on empty. liquid sloshed as you managed to pick it up, prior thoughts about noah's anger if he found out only dissipating more. you took a swig, passing it to stiles for the final take.
"there'd be a ton of guys who'd wanna marry you. fuckn' crazy if they don't."
a small trickle of brown trailed down his chin as you laughed at his sentiment. it promoted you to wipe it away before it curled toward his throat. your touch was gone but stiles could still feel it against his skin. the electricity. he yearned for it.
the boy sighed as you caught a whiff of the alcohol on his breath.
"how about..." he started, hesitant, but the courage bloomed when you lifted his chin so you could see into his eyes, "when we're thirty, if we're still single, we marry each other?"
it was a grand gesture. devised to take you aback. it was a promise, odd, but in this moment it was perfectly content.
"you'd wanna marry me then?"
stiles smiled, head nodding with eagerness, "absolutely. "
it was solidified. an oath kept by the stars. a pact for the ages.
"then it's a deal, stilinski."

Episode 28 spoilers.
Shame on me, I thought this drama couldn't get any more romantically queer...
So we have the story of the mermaid and the man who seduced and used her in hopes of saving his wife and child.
And then we have our found family, who are faced with the choice of saving their "child" but sacrificing ZYZ, who has the core that everyone wants.
I see...
Actually, a very important theme about family dynamics. Even when we love everyone in the family, deep down there is always a desire to be that special someone, the most precious one that won't be exchanged for anyone.
I already know that Ying Lei plays a role here, but I'm sure he spoke these words specifically from his heart. This is his personal pain - the one everyone loves, but he seems special to no one. And even his own father sacrificed his life for ZYZ.
Ying Lei is mostly comic relief in the drama, but I'm starting to worry that his ending will break my heart.
And now ZYC is being pushed to choose between his "child" and his "mermaid".
I can hear something cracking inside of ZYZ at that moment.
If ZYZ ever asked the void on a dark night if ZYC would prefer ZYZ never exist and so his brother be alive - he got his answer here.
I'm certainly glad that ZYZ heard once again how much Yichen loves him - to the point of being willing to fight his friends and take the blame for not saving his adopted younger brother on his soul if they can't find another way. But I'm certainly angry that they put Yichen through all of this.

Love Of My Life
Notes: Requests are still open and as usual please give feedback
Summary: You and Mason were toxic together and couldn't continue, but when your child was born you agreed to co-parent. At your son's second birthday how will Mason react to meeting your new boyfriend? How will he react to this boyfriend throwing away the letter confessing his feelings to you months before? Now you have a choice to make, which boy is the love of your life?
Pairings: Mason Mount x Reader
Word Count: 5.6K
Warnings: Fluff and Angst
As I open my eyes I can feel a small body on top of me, âmummmyyyyâ I hear as I slowly adjust my eyes to the light. âmummy I am two todayâ my baby boy says holding up two fingers slowly and so proud of him that he can say that and knows how old he is. I smile at my boy âthatâs it baby you are two today. Happy birthday!â and I grab him into the biggest hug. I look directly at him and damn he looks so much like his dad, he has all the features of Mason he is his double.
I think back to the time between me and Mason, we were together for 3 years. We met whilst I was in University in London. We hit it off straight away, and I instantly feel in love with him. When he moved to Manchester it did become harder and put a strain on our relationship as University had finished and I moved back to (your hometown). Due to the distance, Mason asked me to move in. Of course I jumped at the chance, but I was worried as I would be so far away from my family.
When we moved in thatâs when things starting to go wrong, we went public so I was receiving a lot of hate from his fans. I didnât look like a WAG, I wouldnât say I was ugly but I wasnât in the same league as some of these girls. I wasnât as skinny and I was more natural, thatâs what mason said he loved about me. There was loads of cheating rumours going round, which made us argue, I trusted Mason but of course I was insecure. Then Masonâs injuries came and the hate was directed at it him. We argued more then we didnât it started to become toxic. Thatâs when we found out we were having a baby. That put even more pressure on the situation, we didnât even know if we wanted to be together, I spent nearly every night crying and those nights I didnât Mason wasnât home. I wanted to be with him more then everything, but the pressure of everything got too much. We decided to call it when I was 6 months pregnant. We sat down and had an adult conversation, the first time in ages we actually spoke and didnât shout at eachother. We decided it was the best thing to do for the babyâs sake, we both brought up with a stable family and we wanted our baby to have that. We both cried that night, and believe me all I wanted was Mason to wrap me up and tell me everything is going to be okay and beg me not to leave, but he agreed and let me go, I think that hurt even more.
Mason was amazing since the breakup, we were constantly talking and facetiming. We spent more time communicating since I moved back home then we did when we were together. He was so supportive and made so much more of an effort. It made me fall in love with him all over again, but I had to tell myself that he didnât want me otherwise he would of fought harder so we just had to focus on being the best parents to out child. He ensured he came to all the scans and appointments, he made the 3 hour travel each time to ensure he attended them all, he said he didnât want to miss a moment of it. We wanted to wait and see the gender of the child as we both agreed it would be more magical on the day. I know Mason secretly wanted a boy.
My heart melts as I look at Elijah, knowing how much he is loved by Mason and I and both sets of families warms my heart. It flashes my mind back to the day he was born 2 years ago. I had intense pains the day before, I quickly ran Mason and explained that the contractions are here, it was the early afternoon before a game so he was insisting on coming down but my midwife said as its my first it could take hours as my waters hasnât broken.
Mason scored a goal and assisted in another I was so proud of him, he rang me as soon as he was back inside the tunnel. I explained I was only 3 cms dilated and they sent me home and just to monitor the contractions and to come in when they are closer apart and more intense. Mason insisted on staying on the phone with me the whole time so he could monitor how the contractions are. When he got like 30 mins away we agreed that I really should go to the hospital as they got closer together and a lot more intense. Mason said he would meet me at the hospital as it would make it quicker and my parents drove me.
Mason paid for me to have a private room so we would have privacy, he came running into the room still in his football kit. âJheez are you trying to cause attentionâ I say laughing through the pain. âI didnât get time to get changed, I have an emergency baby kit in my car with spare clothes though so I will get changed in a min I just wanted to see how you are feelingâ. He came running straight over to me and held my hand and gave me a reassuring smile. God I love that smile. âI scored a goal for youâ. He smiled the biggest smile he was so proud of himself. âI know you did, me and bubba are so proudâ. He pulled my chin up so we were eye to eye, and he placed a small kiss on my lips. âNow y/n lets have a babyâ.
The pain was excruciating and the midwife confirmed I was too far along to have the epidural, I cried in Masonâs arms âPlease Mase, make it stop I cannot do it. I cannot do it Mase, I am so sorry please I cannot do itâ. I can feel myself sweating and my hair is all stuck to my face from the mix of the sweat and the tears coming down my face. Mason kept running his fingers through mine and kissing my forehead. âCome on baby, yes you can you doing amazingâ. I kept pushing whilst Mason gave me words of encouragement. Elijah was finally born at 3am. When the nurse said it was a boy, I watch as Mason shreds a tear as I know thatâs what he was hoping for. âHe is so perfect, I am so proud of you. Thank you giving him to meâ. Once the nurse left and I got all cleaned up, we got to have a moment with just 3 of us before all the families came in. We both sat in silence looking at baby Elijah in my arms, âhe is your doubleâ, I say looking at Mason. Which Mason nods agreeing. Mason looks into my eyes and places a kiss to my lips, it was a passionate deep kiss. âThank you for giving me the most incredible thing y/n, I will love him more then words can say, and I will always love you for bringing him into this world, you did incredibleâ. We were in complete baby bliss.
Mason was an amazing dad, and we co-parent well. It makes everyone ask what happened between us because we were so amazing together and there was always banter and a connection between us. Looking at it from the outside perspective I have no idea why we are not together, there are so many feelings between us both, but Mason never makes a move and keeps us in the co-parenting zone as I do not think he thinks about me in that way, so I guess thatâs where we will stay. We are always going out on days out with Masonâs family and Mason, we generally act like family, but inside my heart is broken knowing Mason will never want us to be that again.
I am getting ready for Elijahâs 2nd birthday party, I am so excited all his friends are coming as well as my family, and Masonâs family. Mason had hired a venue in London with a massive garden, as his birthday is in April is a lovely spring day so lots of activities for the children and agreed if its in London then its central for all sets of families to attend. I had no idea what to wear, I decided to wear a blue spring dress and matched it with some healed sandals and curled my hair. My make-up was subtle but I think I loved quite pretty but I was still insecure about my mum body, but today was about Elijah not me.
The party went by well, I watched as the guests turned up and Elijah seemed like it had the best time. He had his hair jelled, and had a pair of jeans and a shirt on which were already ruined 2 hours into the party. I am walking around socialising with others and thanked them for coming. Thatâs when I bumped into Mason, I watched as his face light up when he saw me, I felt myself blush too. âHey y/n, I am so sorry I have been socialising thanking everyone for coming. How you doing?â. He came round and embraced me in a hug which I melted into. âHonestly its fine, I have been doing the same. Thank you for arranging all this he looks like he has been having the best day! I cannot believe we have a 2 year old where has that time gone?â. Which we both turn to look at Elijah, âI know right it feels like yesterday when he was born, I think I am still recovering from how hard you were holding my handâ. Mason chuckles. âYou wanna push a human out of your body you lucky I didnât break your hand for doing that to meâ. Which we continue to laugh and talk.
Thatâs when I feel an arm around my waist as I turn my head I instantly notice who that is. Daniel. Shit I didnât get time to speak to Mason about it. Thatâs when Daniel opens his mouth âHey baby, sorry I am late. I just saw Eli he looks like he is having the best time! Damn look at youâ Daniel looks me up and down and makes me do a little twirl âyou look fit. Doesnât she look fit mateâ. He turns to Mason and goes to shake his hand. I can tell by the confusion on Masonâs face he is not impressed but he nods to agree âyeah she looks beautiful.â Mason replies which gives me butterflies. âSorry I havenât had the chance to introduce myself I am Daniel. Its nice to meet the famous Mason Mount after all this time, y/n has told me so much about you. Eli is incredible you are a very lucky manâ. Mason nods and mutters the word thank you, I can tell he is trying to work out who Daniel is but I can tell he is nervous about the answer. Thatâs when I step in with introductions, âThis is Daniel, we have been seeing eachother on and off for a little while, but we went official a couple of months ago,â. Mason looked down, I feel awful thatâs not how I wanted to tell him, I just havenât found the right time. âWell okay then, well enjoy the party mate. I best go and mingleâ. He replies and quickly escorts himself.
Daniel turns me to him and I wrap my arms around his neck âI missed you, you look amazing! Mason didnât look to impressedâ making a little smirk. âWell I havenât found the right time to tell him and I think his sons 2nd birthday party was probably not the best time.â Â To that Daniel placed a long kiss to my lips. I can see Masonâs family watching me, his mum knew as I told her a couple of weeks ago when I went out for lunch with his mum and Elijah but I do not think anyone else knew. As I pull away from the kiss, I can see Mason watching me from afar, I never wanted to hurt him.
âI am going to pop to the toilet, you all okay?â I say to Daniel as I am wrapped in his arms, âno worries baby and of course I am okay I am with you and our beautiful boyâ. I didnât want to correct him and say that Elijah isnât âourâ boy he is âmyâ boy as he was being cute. Mason was now standing closer so I really hoped he didnât hear that as I know that would hurt him. I give Daniel one more kiss on the lips as I make my way inside.
As I come out the toilet I see Mason standing in the hallway, I am assuming he was waiting for me. âWhy didnât you tell me before?â Mason asks, I am not sure what to say as honestly I was just scared. âThere was never a good time, everytime we saw eachother it always went so well and I didnât want to start an argument. I donât know Mase, maybe I was a little scared I didnât know how you would take itâ. Mason looks down I can tell he is upset with this, but we havenât been together in over 2 years I cannot stay single forever. âI heard him say âourâ son, does Eli think he is his dad, or does he act like his dad?â I can hear a little bit of jealously and hurt in his voice when he is asking this. âNo mase, Eli knows you are his dad and knows Daniel is just a friend of mine for now thatâs how we leave it. Honestly Mase there are no hard feelings are there?â.  I see Mason trying to give me a smile but I can tell he is upset, which is really weird as he hasnât made a move with me? âOf course not, all I ever wanted was for you to be happy. I canât say I am not disappointed in seeing someone get to have a part that used to be mine but as long as he treats you and Eli right then I am more then happy, I am just gutted you know I never got my chance to make us a proper family, I never got another chance with youâ. I am shocked at this statement as Mason never made a move to become anything more then co-parents. We had our little kisses every now and then, and there was that time last year when Mason came round to see Eli and once he gone to bed, Mason and I got drunk and we ended up sleeping together, but the next day he acted like nothing happened and he never made any other advances or declarations of love so why is this all coming out now? I am a little angry if I am being honest. âWhat are you talking about Mase? Saying that you never got a chance with me? You never tried to have a chance with me? I love you Mason and I always will but you never made me feel like you felt the same, or made any actions to move the relationship forward, so what the hell are you talking aboutâ. Mason now looks into my eyes, I can see the confusion on his face. âI wrote you that letter y/n, I literally confessed my whole entire love to you and you ignore it and acted like nothing happened so I am assuming you didnât want to take the relationship to that level. Wait you still love me?â.
Mason closes the gab between us, we both now confused at the conversation, âWhat letter? What the hell are you talking about-â We are suddenly interrupted by his mum walking through the hall way. âAhhh there you both are, we have been looking everywhere for you both. We are going to do Elijahâs cake.â I nod at Debbie and explain that we are coming. I turn to Mason as we are walking back outside, we both give eachother a look as to say we will discuss this later.
People start saying their goodbyes from the party as I am starting to clear everything up, I see Daniel coming over to me from across the room and instantly puts his arms to my hips. I do not relax into the gesture like I usually do, I am on edge about what Mason said, what letter was he talking about? Daniel pulled me out of my thoughts âI am so sorry baby, the hospital called I got to go. Did you want me to wait for you so I can drop you and Eli home? But I really need to go now so its really upto you?â this is when I see Mason but into the conversation which I can see on Danielâs face he is not too impressed. âHonestly mate go, we still got quite a lot to sort out here so I will drop y/n home honestlyâ. I can see Danielâs hesitation, but I am on board with this as I need to speak to Mason. âHonestly baby go, as Mason said I need to finish off some bits here and do not want to hold you up. I will see you tonight yeahâ Daniel nods and places a kiss to my cheek, I can feel Masons daggers even with my eyes closed. âI love youâ Daniel says, âI love you tooâ. I whisper to him being careful of Masonâs feelings.
We finished tidying up and loaded all of Elijahâs present into Masonâs car, âAre you sure you are okay dropping us home because its like 40 mins into the wrong direction?â, âof course its honestly no problem at allâ. The drive home was silent as Elijah feel asleep in the car, which wasnât surprising as he didnât have a nap today and all the excitement from the party, but we didnât talk the whole way, that always was our problem was communication. As we pull into the street, I ask Mason âdid you want to come inside?â in which Mason shakes his head in reply âI do not think thatâs a good ideaâ. I look down as I can feel my heart hurting I was hoping Mason would come inside. I guess I will have to talk to him there, I need answers.
âWhat letter are you talking about Mason? You never left me a letter?â, Mason looks angry at the reply as in I am talking the piss out of him. âI wouldnât just make up leaving you a letter y/n. You remember the day we went to the zoo?â I reminisce of that day, the days leading up to it were perfect, me and Mason were basically acting like a family with Eli, we spoke nearly every moment of every day, he was constantly came round the house. That was the time I had hope for our relationship. We ended up going to the zoo with his parents, his brother Lewis, Sister Jaz and the girls. We were like one big happy family, it was like me and Mason were a couple, it was the day before he went away on pre-season training. I quickly snap myself out of the memory to listen to Mason. âWell that evening, after I dropped you and Eli home, I left a letter I wrote on the table. I wrote it months before that but I always chickened out actually given it to you. I wrote about how much I love you, and how I want to make it work again, how I want us to be a proper family. But then I went on pre-season training and everytime we spoke you never mentioned the letter so I just thought you read it and didnât know what to say, that you didnât want me back.â
I can see the hurt in Masonâs eyes, I think I can see tears starting to well up in his eyes. âBut I never saw the letter Maseâ. Mason now looks confused, âI literally left it on the table, I left it where you would see it. I made sure to leave it right in sight.â Now everything is running through my head, I never saw a letter? Wait.. âDanielâ I say, âIâm Mason not Daniel but cheersâ he said sarcastically. âI know that dickhead, I mean that night after the zoo Daniel came round. He must of moved the letterâ. I can see the anger in Masonâs face. âDo you really think Daniel would of moved the letter and not given it to you? Because believe me y/n if he is the reason I havenât got to be a family with the love of my life, he is going to feel the wrath of Mason Mount.â I giggle a little at this, but I quickly settle my face to a straight expression when I see Mason isnât joking, âplease Mason you couldnât hurt a fly. But wait I am the love of your life?â I can feel myself blushing. âThis is not the point of this conversation y/n has that dickhead been fucking with my family?â I can see this conversation is starting to get heated which I want to stop now before Elijah wakes up, we always ensure he never saw us argue. âLet me speak to Daniel tonight, lets not jump to conclusions yeah. Everything will be okay, let me figure out what has happened then we can go from thereâ. I place a small kiss to Mason lips, I knew I shouldnât of as I have Daniel its just when I am around Mason I am weak.
I am pacing around the flat, anxiously waiting for Daniel to get home, as soon as he walks into the house he can sense the tension as much as I can. He looks at me worried as to what has happened. âWhats wrong baby?â he asks unsure if he wants to know the answer. I gesture to him to sit down next to me. âYou know we said we would never lie to eachother?â I ask which Daniel nods in agreement. âWhat happened to the letter?â I can see Danielâs eyes go wide as to know he has been caught but he still tries to act dumb. âWhat letter?â I shake my head to him as I am not in the mood for bullshit. âYou know what I am talking about Daniel, the night we officially got together and gave ourselves the label, that night you came round. There was a letter on my table what did you do with it?â I can see Daniel looks uncomfortable with this conversation, but I hope he just gives in and tells the truth. âOkay.. I just needed you to give me a chance. You always said when you and Mason were together it was toxic. When I came over that night as you were putting Eli to bed I saw the letter. I assumed it was from him as I know you guys were out all day. I read the letter about how he loved you and wanted you guys to be a family again. I knew if you would of read it, you would of chosen him and never would of given me a chance to show what me and you could be. Look how happy we are y/n.â I can feel tears running down my face but they are tears of anger. âThe problem is Daniel is that it is my choice to make not yours. I deserved to read that letter and make my own mind up not for you to decide what to do for me.â Daniel comes closer and tucks a strand of hair behind my ears âI am sorry y/n I just needed a chance to show you how much I love youâ. I nod as I know he didnât mean it in any horrible way the problem is, is that I deserved to know what Mason wrote. âI need some spaceâ I say to Daniel, which I can tell he is hesitating âplease take as much space as you need. Just please remember how much I love youâ.
Once Daniel leaves I donât know where my head is at, I understand that Daniel wanted to be with me and I do love him, but I am angry at him for not giving me that letter. I deserved to make my own choices and he took that away from me. I quickly ring me friend and asked if she could look after Elijah for me which she confirmed and made her way over.
Next thing I know I am on my way to Mason, as soon as I rang his doorbell I wanted to run back home, but its too late now. The whole drive there everything was running through my head. I didnât know what I was doing. As soon as I saw Masonâs face I got butterflies, it was like the first time we met. ây/n/n what you doing here? Is Eli okay?â I can see the panic on his face. âOf yeah Eli is fine I um I wanted to speak to you about that letter? Are you free?â.
âI am always free for youâ. Mason smiles and opens the doorway and invites me in, he offers me a drink and we settle on the sofa. âso what did Daniel say?â. I was scared about how he is going to react to the answer. âHe said that he was worried that if I saw the letter, that I would end things with him and choose you, so he hid the letter. I am so sorry Mason I didnât know that was going to happen, you know if I read that letter things probably would have been a lot different, but Mase I didnât read the letter and I have now created this relationship with Daniel so I do not know what to do. My head is all over the place.â At this I break and start crying, I am struggling to control my breathing. Mason moves himself closer to me from across the sofa and wraps me up in his arms and lets me cry. âCome on y/n/n its okay, come on wipe these tearsâ. He cups my hand and wipes the tears staining my cheek. ây/n look at meâ. In which I look up into his eyes, which breaks my heart more, he has the most gorgeous eyes.
âit just hurts Mason, because all I ever wanted was for us to get back together and be a family for Eli. Now the whole time this could of happened. But at the same time there is Daniel involved I just do not want to hurt anyoneâ. I continue to cry into Mason, which I can feel his grip tightened around me as a sign of comfort. â Look baby girl its all your choice. I want you y/n, you are the most beautiful girl inside and out, you are perfect in every way and the most incredible mum. Eli is the luckiest boy alive, but its also your choice. Whatever you have created with this Daniel if he is guy you want then I will accept that and we can continue with how we are the moment. I just want the chance to say I love you y/n, I always have and I always will.â Â I can feel my heart melt, Mason was always my weakness. âJust answer me one question y/n.. do you love him?â in which I nod in reply. âand then do you love me?â which I also nodded to reply as I couldnât get my words out. âWell then you have a bit of a dilemma there then baby.â I start trying to control my breathing so I can get my words out. âCan I ask you something Mase?â.
Mason agrees to my question and allows me to get it out, which took a couple of attempts, âhave you got with anyone you know since we havenât been together?â. I can see Masonâs face relax as if I was going to ask a harder question. âI dated a couple of girls but nothing major, everytime I thought they were just not for me, they werenât you. All I ever wanted was you y/n/nâ. I donât even know what to say to that comment. âWhere did we go so wrong Mase, we used to be so happy then it got so bad. But look at us now, why couldnât we be like that back thenâ.
âI donât know, maybe it was right person wrong time? The stress of everything at that time got to us. I promise you though if you decide to choose me then I will never let that happen again. It will be me, you and Eli against the world.â At that last comment I left myself leaning into Mason, he looked between my eyes and my lips and then next thing you know we are kissing. I deepen the kiss which Mason allowed entrance for my tongue. Then I suddenly realise what I was doing âWait we cannot do this. I am still technically with Daniel. Until I decide what to do we cannot do this.â
Mason backs away and gives me space understanding that I am not a cheater.
Masons POV
I watch as you explain that you need to go home now as you need to think about a decision. You explained how your head is all over the place. I can watch the tears falling down your cheek which is making my heart break. I always hated when you cried. As I am showing you out, I watch as you are hesitating. All I want is for you to stay and choose me but at the same time I know you need to have some space to think this through. As you are trying to say goodbye, all I can think about is continuing that kiss. The next moment I am running across the room to the door, cup both of your cheeks in my hands and place a hard kiss to your lips. You do not pull away which I think is a good sign. As we both pull away I explain âJust in case you choose him, I had to feel your lips one more timeâ. You give me a small smile back, âno matter who I choose Mase. I always will love youâ. I can feel myself welling up trying hard not to break as you say goodbye.
As I watch you get into the car with tears flowing down your cheeks, it reminds me of the night we broke up. That was the worse night of my life, I have never been so heart broken. I cannot believe Daniel never gave you that letter. I was so angry, we could have been a couple right now, and because of that you do not even know if you are choosing me, you may choose to stay with Daniel. I do not think I will be able to cope.
I had to call my mum and explain everything, âI thought you were both acting weird near the end of the party. I said to Lewis I thought I interrupted something when I caught you in the hallwayâ she says. I explain how much I love her which my mums keeps reassuring me that you are going to choose me but the thought of it makes me worry, everything is running into my head right now.
I try to sleep that night but all I can think about is you, I keep looking through all the photos we have together and makes me want you more. We can be a proper family, but at the same time we were so toxic near the end, the more I think, the more I think you are going to choose Daniel.
I am woken up by the sound of the phone ringing, when I see your name popping up with the picture of you and Elijah. You really are the most beautiful girl. I then see the time it was 4am but I quickly answer it âhey Mase I am so sorry to wake youâ. I quickly respond âhonestly its fine whats wrongâ I am a bit worried now her calling me at this time. âI called it with Daniel, I want you Mason its always been you. I am sorry there was never really any question, the whole ride home all I could think about was that kiss. I want you Mase, I need you. I want us to be a proper familyâ. I can feel my whole heart beating quickly. ây/n that is the best news ever! I will come to you now.â I just want to wrap you up in my arms.
âDonât be silly Mase, not at this time. How about me and Eli come down tomorrow we can watch your game then come stay at yours tomorrow. I know Eli would love thatâ. I can feel the butterflies in my stomach. âI would love that more then you will ever knowâ.
We continue to talk for another 20 mins then I can hear you yawning on the phone, so I agree you should go. âI love you Maseâ, âI love you more y/nâ. As soon as we hang up I place my head down on the pillow. I can feel my heart melting at thought of you. I cannot believe we are going to be a proper family, I finally have the love of my life back.

okay but sometimes i forget that pdh era aaron really is just a kid. he's 19. heâs barely a legal adult. he's dealing with puberty. he's literally just a kid. a kid had to deal with all that shit about ultimas and his family and that isolation.
man. can you imagine?? he's already experiencing teenage-hormone-puberty nonsense, but dumping a mountain of trauma on top of that along with the fact that he's virtually alone in this struggle??? his family hasn't ever let him have a social life, he's grown up being told he harbors a horrible curse that makes him a monster-- no wonder he acted out. no wonder his only friend was in the one thing that linked him to the outside world that his family couldn't control. im surprised he wasn't more fucked up in his adulthood than he already was
#rambles#aaron lycan#like. no wonder he locked himself away in his house. no wonder he never spoke to anybody in mystreet until aph started helping him branch o#out#he's such a trooper fr#he left that family. scrapped together funds. had to figure out how to do everything on his own bc his family never taught him#managed to survive#and then was found and loved by a whole group of people who want the best for him and love him and AGH.#MAN.....#sorrs aaron gives me such brainworms sometimes

"I didn't want a princess, daddy! I want to be one!" Came the complaints of the toddler dagonling as the scared princess who was shaking.
You sigh in a mixture of exhaustion and exasperation. "Well, Ruby, honey-"
"NO! That's not what I want! It's not! It's not!" Ho boy. The tantrum is starting strong.
"Um.." came the soft spoken voice of the princess, who was facing you.
You blow dark smoke clouds from your nose. You did NOT need this today. "Speak, human." She couldn't possibly make this situation any worse.
"I.." She stopped, before swallowing her courage ir seemed. "I can teach her how to be a princess."
You laugh. "That is the most preposterous-"
"You can!?" That was the fastest she'd stopped crying since the day she hatched. Hmm.. you can work with this.
"Very well, name your price for teaching." Although you do not wish to part with your hoard, anything to make your dragonling happy.
"A place in your home." The princess says, which dumbfounds you.
"Why?" You are suspicious now, your eyes boardering on slits.
The princess shrugged, "it's quite cozy and I've always wanted to learn the language of dragons." She smiles, "it seems like it would be useful, should another dragon who is not so merciful and who doesn't speak the Common Tongue kidnap me."
You, after a moment, nod. "Very well." This could be useful to you as well, your offsrping learning a mixture of Draconic and Common would make her true royalty amongst dragons. And her lessons could make her more appealing to the more open minded human-folk.
And so, from that day forwards, you and your child have dubbed the princess: Auntie Princess.
-
For years, Auntie would visit. You don't remember a time when she wouldn't. And things were perfect. You, your father and your Auntie.
And then, when you had grown and found your own cave, your father had left from a visit and never came back.
"Cut down by a group of knights." Your Aunt said, crying as well. "Filth." She hissed in Draconic, pulling your head to her lap and starting to rub between your horns to give you comfort.
"I want to burn them." You said, relaxing a little. "But you taught me that princesses don't do that."
When you feel your Auntie make a noise like a yowling cat, her attempt at growling in Draconic, you knew that meant displeasure.
"That is true, but I am a queen now. And queens, my dear niece, can wage war."
You show all of your teeth in a smile. "That we can, Auntie."
That kingdom will know the wrath of Auntie Princess, first of her name and queen of her lands, defender of the Dragon Princess. Bringer of Justice for her family.
You kidnapped a princess, because your dragon daughter wanted a princess. You are not sure why exactly she wanted one but you got her one.

What makes you react to what's happening in Gaza? and What makes you care about human lives? Is it empathy, ideology, culture, religion, knowledge, or something else that compels you to feel and act?
What would push your government to stop saying, "Israel has the right to defend itself"? What would make columnists stop focusing on self defense and what the demonstrators or students are doing "wrong" and instead use their platform to pressure their government to do what's "right" to stop this ongoing genocide? When did you start caring, and when will you start acting?
Is it when you have Palestinian friends?
When Palestinian children begged for food, safety, and water?
When over 45000 Palestinians had been killed & 98000 injured ?
When left-wing political parties around the world started criticizing Israel?
When Palestinian and Israeli human rights organizations sounded the alarm for years?
When protesters took to the streets every week? Do you still hear their voices?
When human rights organizations like Amnesty International or Human Rights Watch documented the atrocities? Was 60 years of human rights violations not enough?
When journalism associations worldwide recorded an unprecedented number of journalists killed in such a short period?
When UN agencies like the World Food Program or UNRWA reported on the humanitarian disaster and worsening famine?
When aid organizations like Doctors Without Borders or the Red Cross warned of the total collapse of healthcare?
When child rights organizations like Save the Children or UNICEF constantly reported on childrenâs acute physical and mental health crises?
When Jewish groups like Jewish Voice for Peace declared, "Not in my name"?
When the International Criminal Court in The Hague found strong evidence of crimes against humanity and began prosecuting high-ranking officials? Are you waiting for the court to tell you act?
When your children were upset after hearing what was happening in Gaza? Did that stir your parental instincts?
When the EU's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, repeatedly urged Israel to stop the killings?
When your favorite artist spoke outâdid that make you reflect?
When students protested at universities around the world? Does the passion of young people give you hope?
When the Pope made a statement about the situation?
When military experts reported how many bombs Israel had dropped on Gaza?
When 2.5 million people were displaced under bombardment, with nowhere to escape in Gazaâa place already called the worldâs largest open-air prison even before October 7?
When your employer gave you permission to speak out?
Are you waiting for Joe Biden to say the red line has been crossed and stop sending weapons?
Or are you waiting for Donald Trump to say the magic words: "Enough is enough"?
Or for Benjamin Netanyahu to say "Oh sorry that was a mistake"?
Or are you waiting for God Almighty to come down and say, "Enough is enough"?
Or for the most extreme elements in the Israeli government to say, "Now we can stop bombing"âbut will there be any Palestinians left in Gaza by then?
Or will you stop waiting and act now, driven by empathy, knowledge, and solidarity with people who are being oppressed right in fornt or your eyes?
Iâve lost over 200 family members, friends, and neighbors in this genocide. I have 24 of my familyâs members and 2 orphaned children, trapped in a makeshift tent and struggling to survive in this freezing winter in Gaza. Is that not enough to move you to act? Tell me then when ?âwhen will your humanity compel you to step in? Please, act now and donate!

đĽust a betďšhyung line
đnhypen x fem!reader ď¸ď¸âšď¸ cw: angst, no fluff (yet), reader is mostly viewed as a loser and nerd, lowercase intended, kinda went overboard with hoon's, reader gets called a bitch once, not proofread!
sypnosisďšafter a few months of dating, you find out you were just a bet.
part two !
â
LEE HEESEUNG (wc 0.3k)
you and lee heeseung has been dating for a total of five months, and throughout those months you can confidently say that you were the happiest. he was the perfect boyfriend, his family loved you and so did yours.
today, heeseung promised he would take you on a date after his basketball practice despite your protests on how he should be resting instead. you wouldn't have agreed if it weren't for the fact that he had shot you with his pleading big doe eyes that never fails to make you agree on whatever he asks for.Â
so here you were, making your way towards the gymnasium with your bag hanging on your left shoulder. the lack of dribbling and smacking basketball noise from behind the closed doors told you that their practice was done.
entering quietly out of habit, you were about to approach your boyfriend when you overheard his teammates talking to him.
"don't tell me you're still with her?" asked one of boys, an amused smile on his face. heeseung only raised a brow.
"what? you won the bet, you can dump her now. you're ruining our image you know? plus she's a total nerd and loser, you're much better with someone like yunhee." and with only just a few words, you felt your world crashing down.
right, who would date someone like you? you always found it weird, that heeseung just approached you one day in your biology class with the cheekiest smile on his face. the fact that he wouldn't leave you alone until you've agreed to go on a date with him. it all made sense now, why the popular basketball captain suddenly gained interest on the school's "biggest nerd."
"speaking of.." another guy spoke, nodding towards you with a cheeky smile. heeseung turned around only to be met with your glassy eyes.
you didn't move, wanting to hear him defend you. wanting to tell his teammates that you weren't a bet and he actually liked you throughout the months you two have been dating.
his silence said everything and with that you turned away and ran out of the gym.
"shit." he muttered, running after you.
â
PARK JONGSEONG (wc 0.3k)
"i'll pick you up later, okay?" your boyfriend of almost a year said softly through the phone. you've been dating jay since the first week of your first year in uni, others found your relationship weird. maybe because back in high school, jay never and refused to even spare you a glance. he was an asshole who looked at you as if you were the epitome of disgusting.
but the past is in the past now, right?
"okay baby, see you." you reply and put your phone down on your table, knowing that he's usually the one who ends the call.
you go back to the papers scattered on your table. the silence in your room was disturbed by sudden noises in your phone, turning to look, you see that jay hasn't ended the call.
picking your phone up with a smile, you were about to call out for him but a voice stopped you.
"i can't believe you've gone this far dude." you recognized the slightly muffled voice, it was a friend of jongseong's.
"what do you mean?" your boyfriend grumbled. the audio was muffled, you figured he was moving and the phone was in his pocket.
"you're still dating her!" the voice exclaimed, as if amused. "seriously, i didn't think you'd take that bet seriously. fine you win, i'll clean your car for a month. but you've gotta cut it out, you're starting to disgust me." the boy laughed.
before you could hear what your boyfriend would say, you ended the call. your hand was trembling and tears were falling from your eyes unconsciously.
were all those months just a joke to him? were your feelings really worth a free car wash for just a month? were you that unworthy?
jay was an asshole back in high school, you thought he changed. turns out he didn't, you felt like a fool for falling for his antics.
â
SIM JAEYUN (wc 0.3k)
if someone would be asked who you were, they'd all say the same thing. a loner, pathetic loser, and a nobody with a pretty face.
because what was a pretty face if you had no friends and a social life?
you almost believed you would die alone, you were too socially awkward to make friends. so when sim jaeyun, the transferee, approached you with a warm smile and a hand outstretched for a shake, you were beyond shocked.
your relationship went from being block mates, friends, then next thing you knew you two were dating. at first you were reluctant to enter a relationship, scared that it would ruin your friendship, but he insisted you both tried. that was three months ago.
you didn't have any friends, but atleast you had jake.
jake who smiles at you as if you had carved the stars in your hands. jake who would never forget to bring your coffee every morning. he was everything you ever needed. he was it for you, you only hoped he felt the same towards you.
walking through the hallway of the school, you stopped infront of your locker only to be met with a sticky note on it.
HOW LONG CAN JAKE LAST WITH LOSER L/N?
A WEEK : ĺ - ĺ - ĺ - ĺ - III
FIVE MONTHS : ĺ - I
A YEAR : II
Furrowing your brows, you stare at the note as your breathing grew heavy. It was obvious that the paper was old, it had folds and it was only stuck on your locker with a washi tape.
"what are you doing l/n? go on, cast your vote." a mocking voice said from beside you followed by a bunch of laughter. "personally, i thought he'd last a day. i guess i'll vote for five months then." then the hand went and tallied on the five months category.
"what's going on here?" upon hearing your boyfriend's voice, you fled away immediately, not wanting to face him. everytime something good happens in your life, it's always ripped away from you. jake was just like them, you were just a toy for their own entertainment.
â
PARK SUNGHOON (wc 0.5k)
"i'm sorry baby, i really am busy with practice tomorrow." your boyfriend, sunghoon, says in genuine sorry. it was the fifth time you have asked him to meet your parents, who also by the way was so desperate to meet the boy you've been dating for seven months now.
every time you ask him, he's always busy. either with practice, a project, a family matter, or whatever excuse he can come up with. but you always brush it off, knowing he means well and he really is busy as he's an athlete student.
"i'll meet them next week, okay? i promise." that's also the same thing he says everytime too, and once again, you only nod in response.
you and sunghoon met in a physics class. he was clutching his head with a frown on his face as he desperately tried to understand what the professor was going on about.
you remember clearly the way he approached you in the library, a physics book on his left hand as his right scratched his nape. "can.. i noticed- uh, can you help me with this topic?"
that was where your relationship started. you tutored him and helped him improve his grade. when he got an A on the finals, he kissed you on the lips in glee. he was taken aback by his own actions but nevertheless asked you out after.
"i love you," he whispers, pressing a kiss on your temple. "let me get something from my room." you hum in response as he takes his arm that was previously wrapped around you before going up to his room.
you can't help but notice the way his phone was blowing up from beside you.
you weren't the type to snoop around other people's phones, especially your boyfriend. it just felt wrong, you trusted him fully. but the way it kept ringing with text notifications, you just couldn't help it.
looking back to the stairs, you note he isn't back and there was still rummaging noises from his room.
taking his phone, you enter his passcode and read the messages from one of his group chats.
JONGSU
lol don't tell me she asked again.. em ba rrah sing
DAEHYUN
hahah when is she gonna take a hint?? đ
JOON
you gonna blame her? hoon's been at it for months lmao
DAEHYUN
i actually can't believe he went that far, wasn't it only supposed to be for a month? đż
JONGSU
a week actually, but ig that bitch y/n was so easy. yk hoon likes to get his ego fed đđ
putting the phone down, you exhaled in disbelief. you took your bag from the floor and threw it over your shoulder and went to the door of his apartment to put your shoes back on.
"baby?" sunghoon emerged from the stairs, looking at you curiously. "you're going already?" he asked, extending an arm towards you but you slapped it away. the tears on your eyes shocking him.
"hey, hey what's wrong?" he tried again but his hand was yet again slapped away.
"i don't want to see you ever again." was the last words you uttered to him (shakily) before leaving his apartment.

leave me again ii // rafe cameron
pairing: rafe cameron x routledge!reader (she/her), ex!jj maybank x reader
summary: you left the cut with nowhere to go. itâs rafe cameron that finds you and shows you the life you deserved to live
warnings: sorry jj lovers, that man does not get our girl back so sad jj and probably ooc rafe but i love it when that man is soft
navigation || part one
--
Six months.
It had been six months since any of the Pogues had seen you. No social media, no sight of you around town, no letters. Nothing.
The past six months left you to do a lot of reevaluations. Youâd walked aimlessly after the group had left for the dive with nothing but your backpack and phone, no destination in mind. Until you found one.
âLost or something?â
âFuck off, Rafe,â Your response was instant as you continued to walk without sparing him a look. The car shifted into a different gear, you guessed by the noise, before Rafe was hopping out to approach you.
âAre you okay?â When you didnât answer, he moved in closer and grabbed your shoulder before turning you to face him. âHey, hey. Whatâs wrong?â
You stared at him with the knowledge that you probably looked like a mess with the tear streaks across your cheeks. While Rafe had a lot of issues with your friends and brother, he usually stayed clear of you. Whether that was because you were close with Sarah, or what, you didn't know.
Twisting your fingers together, you dropped your gaze as tears started to build again. âYou ever watch someone you love choose someone else over you, every single time?â
The question felt like a punch in the gut to Rafe. He had. His whole life he watched his dad choose Sarah. Watched his mom choose another family over him. Watched Wheezie choose another sibling over him.
âGet in, Iâve got somewhere to take you.â
Six months ago, you hopped in Rafe Cameronâs Range Rover and left The Cut behind. You didnât question the decision, knowing youâd worry about everyone else before taking care of yourself, and that clearly didnât work in the past. You felt horribly guilty about leaving John B with no indication whether you were okay or not, but you knew if one of them found out, JJ would be busting down the door to Rafeâs bedroom before you had a chance to say no.Â
While you werenât sure what the original intentions had been, Rafe was so different with you after bringing you back to his new house. One heâd bought after selling Tannyhill, free from the haunting of his father and the screams that echoed off the walls, he had turned it into a safe space for himself and anyone he invited in.
Things blossomed quickly and you realized the Rafe in front of you was not the bully, coke-head addict youâd once known. He was such a gentle person, and so much more attentive to you than JJ had ever been. Whether it was making you breakfast in bed before you left for the day, or prepping a warm (actually warm, like hot water youâd hadnât had in forever) candle lit bath, or popping an expensive bottle of wine just for you to taste, he was there in ways nobody had been. You were his girl, his only girl, and you never once had to question that.
Rafe had even invited you to sit in on his investment meetings and he was slowly pulling your name into his business so youâd have a professional background to grow into. You were steadily becoming an educated little couple in his home, something he was so proud and grateful for. He had someone to lean on for advice and give him fresh eyes on new projects with no judgment or fear of anger. The two of you soaked up your bubble of peace for as long as you could before shit hit the fan.Â
Little did you know, on the other side of the island with your brother, there had been absolutely no peace. John B and JJ barely spoke, everything ending in an argument when they did. Pope was sick of playing mediator, and Kie had more of less shut down out of guilt. Sarah was still searching for you, but youâd gone ghost. Cleo was treading lightly with the knowledge that everything would explode eventually.Â
So, they did what they could, and dove into treasure hunting. When JJ pulled the amulet out of his pocket in the back of the Twinkie, John Bâs emotions were mixed. Sure, he was stoked that heâd found the object the group was looking for, but he wished you were here. It was your birthday, and John B was inches away from losing his shit without you.
âDude, are you okay?â Pope asked as the group stood in the office area of the house, trying to find more information on the amuletâs inscription.
John B tossed the heavy object on the desk in frustration. âNo, Iâm not okay! We can find decades old treasure like itâs the easiest thing ever, but we canât find jack shit about my sister? Thatâs bullshit, Pope. And you know it.â
Pope knew things would be sensitive today. Even JJ woke up grouchy, which John B told him was deserved since he caused your absence in the first place. The lack of your presence weighed heavy on the group, so Pope suggested going to visit one of your favorite beach spots.Â
Little did he know what he was getting himself into.
--
âRafe!â The house was filled with your laughter as Rafe twirled you in the kitchen lighting, your favorite song playing from the interactive speaker on the counter. The two of you had spent the day together, visiting the country club for lunch before Rafe took you shopping for something to wear tonight.
âCâmon, sweetheart. Lemme love on you, itâs your birthdayâ He mumbled as he pressed soft kisses into your neck, hands squeezing your hips teasingly. The soft fabric of the dress heâd picked out covered your frame, the color matching your skin perfectly.Â
You hummed in content, fingers holding his biceps tightly as if your knees would give out any second. âYou loved on me a lot this morning.â
âCanât help it.â Rafeâs thumb traced your bottom lip before he kissed you softly. âYou make it so easy.â
The two of you got lost in each other for a few more moments, soaking up the quiet as the orange sunset started casting through the windows. Today had been the best day youâd had in so long and you were so grateful of Rafe for giving you so much patience and love.
It had taken time for you to adjust to this kind of life. You walked in here with three outfits to your name, a busted cell phone, and a stuffed animal John B won you at the town festival as kids. And Rafe embraced every bit of it, let you keep your Pogue pieces while building you a life around it that was filled with items you needed but would never ask for, all while loving you so gently.
You climbed out of his car (technically the one heâd bought you but you refused to acknowledge that), and stepped down into the soft sand below. This was your spot, the spot you came to whenever you needed to clear your head or take a moment alone. Youâd shared it with Rafe shortly after everything changed, and now, it was a shared spot that you both considered special.
Rafe moved around the car to grab your hand and guide you toward the area he had organized for the two of you. A small white table had been set up with your favorite snacks and two glasses of wine, surrounded by the fluffiest blanket and pillows youâd seen.Â
âDid you do this?â You squeezed his hand tighter, tears in your eyes at how sweet and thoughtful the gesture was. Your jaw dropped as the two of you walked closer; everything was thought out down to the tiny forks you loved so much being there to pick up the appetizers.Â
âCourse I did, baby.â Rafe kissed your temple softly and grabbed one of the glasses to hand to you before taking hold of his own. You clinked your glass against his, leaning up on your tiptoes to kiss him deeply in appreciation.
And then everything went to shit.
âWhat the fuck?â
Rafeâs hand tightened against your lower back, both of you looking over to see the handful of figures standing a few feet away. Your heart went to your throat went you made eye contact with your brother, whose hand was wrapped in Sarahâs. JJ stood behind him along with Kiara, Pope, and Cleo, all of them looking at you expectantly.
âShit,â You whispered and took a step back from Rafe, eyes meeting his in dread. His expression had hardened at the sight of JJ, all the anger rushing back when he thought about how youâd been treated in the relationship, how unfair everything had been. You clocked the frustration in his gaze and placed your fingers on his cheek to redirect his focus back to you. âDonât. Iâll handle it.â
Rafeâs jaw ticked but he didnât argue as you slipped your wine glass back into his hand and left his side to approach the group standing in front of you. You werenât even worried about JJ or Kie, you were worried about John B more than anything.
âHi,â The greeting was so quiet you almost didnât hear yourself. How do you talk to people you disappeared on six months ago?
John Bâs only response was to pull you into the tightest hug he had ever given. You stumbled with the force of his body colliding with you before regaining your balance and returning the embrace.Â
âYouâre okay,â He repeated the words to himself as if convincing his mind that they were true before stepping back and holding your cheeks in his hands. The smile on his face was huge, and you were so so confused. âHoly shit.â
âHi,â You laughed quietly, placing your hands on top of his. âIâm so sorry.â
John B shook his head, his thumb brushing the random tear from your cheek. âDonât be sorry. I told you to take a break, yeah? And you did.â
You glanced back to where Rafe was surprisingly conversing with Sarah with no anger in sight. The pit in your stomach slowly disappeared as you took them in and turned your attention back to John B. âI um⌠thereâs a lot to catch you up on, and I want to tell you. I wanna tell you all of it, JB, but-â
âAnd I wanna hear it,â He reassured softly. âBut someone put a lot of effort into your night and I donât wanna steal any of it.â
You were so goddamn grateful for your brother. Pulling John B into another hug, you spared the look over his shoulder to see Kiara stomping away from the beach. You tried to keep a smirk off your face but it definitely made its way through.Â
Stepping back from John B, you shared hugs with Cleo and Pope, promising that you would see them soon before you were face to face with the reason you made it here in the first place. JJ looked rough. His hair was chaotic, arms thinner than you remembered, and he just looked tired.
âI donât want your apology,â You spoke as he opened his mouth. âAnd it looks like you have a girlfriend to go find anyway.â
âSheâs not my girlfriend,â JJ replied quickly as he stared at you. âNot anymore.â
You pulled your lips in and shrugged. âOkay. Iâll see you around, JJ.â
He reached a hand out toward you when you moved to walk away. You paused just out of his reach and looked back. âFor what itâs worth, I am sorry.â
You nodded. âI know. I should be thanking you actually, because if you had said it back to me that day, I wouldnât have found something so much better.â
And with that, you walked away from JJ and the empty promises he had always given, walked away straight into the arms of someone who would give you the world and more, if you just so much as asked.

*â§ď˝Ľďž: *â§ď˝Ľďž "in the dead of night"シďžâ§*: シďžâ§*
pairing: Jacaerys Velaryon x fem!Reader
words: 7000
summary: when Jace is attending a late council meeting, two hired assassins take their chance to sneak into your chambers and hold you captive. Taken to the dragon caves below and meant to be slain by your own betrothedâs dragon, you have to trust the bond between Vermax and you is strong enough to escape your captorâs murderous plans.
warnings: soft!reader, fluffy start but HEAVY angst (reader being held captive by two assassins similar to Blood and Cheese), physical violence (slapping, hair pulling), verbal abuse, threats of rape and violence, Vermax being Vermax and also protective of reader, hurt/comfort, shock and crying, Jacaerys being a caring betrothed, Rhaenyra being the best mother in law, aftermath of trauma, healing, hopeful ending
a/n: please mind the warnings for this story, itâs my angstiest so far! Big thanks to @princessvelaryon and @princesschimchim1325 for being awesome and inspiring me to write this!
Ëââ§ę°á â ŕťęą â§âË
You smiled to yourself as you held two small wooden figures in your hands, a princess and a prince, their hands linked together and small attires made of cotton and wool. When you were younger, you remembered playing with them for hours, creating little scenarios of the prince who might sweep you off your feet someday.
Now, many years later, you had found the love of your life in Prince Jacaerys.
Ever since your own parents had died too young, Jaceâs family had welcomed you as if you were one of them by blood, making you a home at Dragonstone and accepting you with open arms as theirs. Perhaps, a huge part of it was because Rhaenyraâs oldest son had been in love with you ever since he had first laid eyes on you, but there was more to it. His mother adored you and you got alone with his siblings and cousins and brought a joy into their house that was much needed in those dark times of war.
This afternoon, you were sitting on the soft fur carpet in one of the big living rooms of the castle, Rhaenyraâs twins peacefully playing with their wooden toys all around you. Earlier, Baela and Rhaena had joined you for a chat and the newest gossip, but you didnât mind being alone with the kids as well, your own inner child always coming down around their soft souls.
You let out a playful gasp as little Viserys assembled a row of knights on their horses along the imaginary street you had built together. âAre your noble knights going to a tournament, Vis?â
The boy nodded timidly at you, letting one of the horses gallop forward and making you laugh.
Your betrothed Jacaerys leaned against the doorframe and smiled softly as he watched you. Little Aegon had snuggled close to you and you helped Viserys move the toy carriage around the carpet.
You looked up as he pushed himself off the frame, walking towards you with pure adoration in his eyes. âOh hello. I didnât hear you enter.â You said, letting your hand be lifted by him so he could press a soft kiss against your knuckles.
Moving to stand and placing Aegon on the ground, he laid a hand on your shoulder, shaking his head. âI didnât want to interrupt your play. What adventures is my princess going on today? Have my brothers been behaving?â
âThey are the sweetest.â You told him in all honesty, your heart melting at the two little blond boys in front of you. Whenever you spent time with Jaceâs smaller siblings, you could not help but notice how your heart expanded and spoke to a deep part in you that wished for children of your own someday. âWe were playing a carriage ride to a tournament, I believe, but then a dragon escaped and now we have to look for him.â
Jace squatted down for a moment and handed Aegon a rattle shaped like the bell of a sept, which he immediately took with a toothless grin and tried out. You watched your betrothed with a soft heart and thought what a wonderful father heâd makeâŚ
âI dream of the day this will be our life someday.â He confessed to you, the corner of his plump lips lifting sadly. âWhen there is peace in the realm and we have time to take care of our future children together.â
âI wish for nothing else.â You replied softly, your heart blooming with love for him.
For a moment, Jacaerys looked as if he wanted to sit down and join you and his little brothers, but as you knew your hard-working betrothed all too well, he sighed and stood up again, careful not to step on the big skirts draped around you like a blooming flower.
âThere will be a late council meeting this evening.â Jacaerys announced to you, his displeased expression betraying him. âEveryone of the council and the dragon keepers will sit together to discuss. I wouldnât ask you to join us, it will be very boring and entirely unnecessary.â
You chuckled, knowing all too well how different Jace would do many things if his say in the matters of his mother would be of more weight. But at the same time, you were glad, Rhaenyra kept him sheltered and protected with you for now, at Dragonstone where it was the safest place for the future king and his queen.
âWill you come to bed later?â You asked shyly, although it was not uncommon for the prince and you to share a bed before your marriage had even been consummated.
A small and narrow passage connected your room to Jacaerysâ and you had often made use of it, whether you wanted someone to talk to before heading to bed or were in need of his warm embrace before you eventually drifted off into an innocent sleep together. When he was gone or bound to duties, you usually made yourself comfortable in his bed, but perhaps youâd return to your own tonight if the meeting was going to take a while before heâd be released.
Jacaerys smiled softly at you and nodded before he raised your hand towards his lips. âI will. Donât stay up too late, Iâll be with you as soon as I can, I promise.â
You hummed pleased and let him kiss your knuckles. âI hope it wonât be too long. And donât take their words to heart too much, Jace. Youâre the prince and theyâre lucky to have you.â
âIt is me who is lucky to have you, my beloved.â He said and watched in delight as you blushed at his appreciation. âMy safe haven, my light.â
Jacaerys leaned down, softly cupping your cheek before he gently kissed your lips, your back arching a little to reach him better. Your lips brushed tenderly against one another and you sighed in bliss at his open affections for you.
You smiled at him when you separated, squeezing his hand in yours. âI love you. Iâll see you later.â
âI love you.Iâll do my best to hurry.â He promised, hugging his little toddler brothers as well and softly stroking their hair before he departed. You sighed to yourself, eager to have the hours pass and let the two of you be reunited again as little Aegon presented you a wood dragon, silently asking you to rejoin their play..
âAlright, where were we, my princes?â
Ë ŕź ŕłâ・Ë
Being alone in your private chambers had become a rarity since you had been promised to Jacaerys.
You listened to the quietness of the room, the fire cackling in the pit as you sat on your bed and combed out your hair. You had taken a bath after bringing the princes to their nurseries and changed into something comfortable for the night.
The small evidence of Jaceâs frequent visits to your room were visible all over the place. A cloak of his was thrown over one of your chairs by the fire and one of his books laid open by your desk. Even his smell still faintly clung to your pillows, a little gift from the last time he had fallen asleep here, not bothering to retreat back to his own chamber under your soft and lingering touches to his hair.
You could not even remember the last time the connecting door between your rooms had been closed.
You let out a small sigh as you sunk into bed, watching the dark outside of your window for a while. The council meeting mustâve been going on for a while now and you tried to read a few pages to keep you awake, not wanting to miss the moment Jace would come to you.
The time went by and your eyelids kept dropping.
But after a while, the door to your chamber opened and a wide smile split your face as you sat up in your bed, ready to welcome Jace back. Your hair fell over your shoulders, the blanket slipping down your body a little, but just a second later, everything in you froze to a stop.
Two men entered your room, their clothes dirty and faces dark as they took you in. These werenât your guards and as one of them unsheathed a blade from his belt, you opened your mouth to scream.
They were on you in a heartbeat.
One of them drew the blankets off the bed while the other grabbed your hair, dragging you from the mattress and onto the floor, every sound in your throat seizing up and choked off by their sudden display of violence.
You were not a fighter, never had been. You stood no chance as they manhandled you in their middle, the taller one quickly looking over his shoulder as you struggled to no use against their tight grip.
âLook at that.â You heard close to your ear, the deep raspy voice sending shivers down your spine. âThe bastard princeâs little bird, right between us. What would your man say now if he could see you like this, huh?â
You whimpered when your head was tugged back, the other gripping your wrists and making quick work of a tight rope around them, scratching over your soft skin and successfully binding you.
âWho are you?â You demanded to know, your voice barely louder than a whisper. You were shaking from head to toe, your body and mind gone into overdrive when they had first laid hands on you.
They shared a grin with each other. âDoes it matter? All you have to know is weâre not your fucking maids. And that you will die tonight, princess. Now be a good girl and shut the fuck up.â
You tried to press your heels into the floor, to keep them from stirring you towards the door, but after a moment the tall one simply picked you up and carried you towards the door. Your nails scratched over the manâs back, but it was like he didnât even feel it, his grip around your legs too tight for you to struggle and free yourself.
âBehave.â
You were set on your feet again, crowded by them against the door. You swallowed hard against the lump in your throat, your eyes flickering between the two of them. âWhoever paid you, their reward is not nearly enough for the misery my family will bring down on you when they find you. I am a princess of Dragonstone and you have no right to-â
They pushed you out of the door, not bothering to listen.
A horrified gasp escaped your lips as you stepped outside your chamber and nearly stumbled over the dead bodies of your two guards, bleeding out and cold on the floor. The sound echoed through the hall and before you knew what was happening, your head was pulled back by your hair and a hard hand slapped you across the face.
Pain exploded in your mind, blinding you for a moment before the sting ebbed away and was replaced with a dull throb in your cheek.
You held the palm of your trembling hand to your throbbing cheek, breathing hard as you recovered from the blow. âYou will die for this.â You said oddly calm and collected. It had to be the shock, you could not think clearly, but you knew one thing for sure: âThe prince will cut your hands off for laying hand on me.â
The tall one grinned as if it was an empty threat. âWe will be long gone once your prince finds you, stupid cunt. And in what state that will be, I still have to decide.â His disgusting hungry gaze crept over your body, barely hidden underneath your thin sleeping gown. You wanted to throw up.
âYou will lead us to the place where the dragons are.â The shorter one said. âWe know the keepers are all at the meeting and you know ways where no guards keep patrol. And if you dare to scream or run to wake anyone, Iâll cut out your tongue and heart and throw it in front of the bastard princeâs feet.â
You swallowed down bitter tears, your head screaming at you to do something, anything. But your hands were painfully tied and you did not find your voice as you slowly began to walk with them through the castle.
In the past, you have had nightmares like this, terrible visions of you being powerless as hands held you down in the dark, doing horrible things to you. You sometimes had woken up screaming, but Jacaerys had been there for you every time, holding you until the worst of it was over and you slowly were able to calm down in his safe and warm embrace. Now, there was no one, all people living and working at Dragonstone either asleep or summoned by Rhaenyra and Jacaerys for the council meeting. By the time someone had discovered the corpses of your guards in front of your chambers, youâd likely be dead or taken to who knew where.
You walked through your home, shivering against the cool air with only the thin nightdress you wore on you, the dangerous presence of your captors behind your back. You knew Jacaerys would blame himself for leaving you alone and suddenly, a sorrow so consuming filled your chest, you choked on a quiet whimper. You had not even said goodbyeâŚ
âShut the fuck up.â They hissed at you and one of them slung his arm around your waist, your fingers digging into his flesh in protest as cool metal suddenly rested against your ribcage. A dagger. âBe fucking quiet and keep walking.â
Soon, the air began to smell of salt and sea and you heard the distant crashing of the waves against the island. The entrance to the dragon caves came into sight and you turned around to face them.
âNow tell us, girl, where is your precious dragon?â
Your heart sank into the pit of your stomach, but before you could open your mouth for a reply, the other one of them shook his head. âNo. Donât be stupid. The beast will kill us right away if it sees their rider in our clutches. ButâŚthe bastardâs dragon. Itâs a foul ill-tempered beast, isnât it? Where is it?â
Vermax.
A protective wave washed through you and for a moment, you regained the little confidence you had before the man had laid his hand on you. âWhat do you want with the dragon? You are in no state to have a chance at killing him.â
They shared a look, both grinning viciously. One of them stepped up to you and touched your chin with his dirty hand, right where a fresh bruise from his violence bloomed. You tried to flinch away, but he held you close.
âWe donât mean to kill it, flower.â He told you, bloodthirst flickering over his features and making you sick. His knuckles brushed over the cut on your lip and you wanted to gag from disgust. âWeâre going to watch as it kills you.â
Your mind was swimming as you led them through the darkness, watching their big shadows looming over your small own. The taller one still held his dagger against your waist and you knew heâd make use of it if he noticed you playing any games. There were wild beasts slumbering in the depths of these caves, but would they be faster at attacking your captors than the knife against your skin?
The hope in your chest thinned the further away you walked with them from where you knew your own dragon slept, but one last shimmer of it remained in you. You knew Vermax and he knew you just as Jacaerys did. You had to hold on to that.
âItâs here.â You announced quietly, your whisper echoing across the cave near the ocean. It was quiet here and you had to squint your eyes to make out the big nest at the end of the cave where a green-scaled dragon slept fitfully.
âCall it.â The smaller one muttered, his eyes fixed on the beast. You winced as the tip of the dagger pressed into your skin, a warning. âWe will stand behind you and when it has come out, you will command it to kill you, you hear me? No tricks or Iâll gladly be the one to end your suffering, right after my friend here has had his fun with you, princess.â
You took a deep breath as they retreated into a safe distance.
âNaejot MÄzÄŤs, Vermax.â You commanded shakingly and the sound of your familiar voice, the big pile of green and red in the corner of the cage moved, uncurling himself from his light slumber.
Jacaerysâ dragon blinked at you sleepily, a shudder going through his beautiful scales as he tilted his head to the side questioningly. When he spotted the two men in your company, he tensed, stepping forward and showing himself in his full height.
âLykirÄŤâŚâ You lifted your hands, trying to catch Vermaxâ eyes again so heâd look at you instead of them.
With a low growl in his throat, he settled, stepping closer to you until his snout almost touched your outstretched hand.
âSay it, girl!â You heard the commanding voice behind you, in a safe distance of the beast that slowly blinked at you, considering. âWeâre not going to wait much longer!â
You took a deep breath and looked Vermax in the snake-like eyes.
He met you with a calm stare, tilting his head to the side again, a deep rumble in his chest.
You had to trust in him now. You had to trust in the love Jacaerys and you were sharing and the bond between you and the dragons.
Out of the sudden, a heavy thrown stone hit you in the back and you gasped in pain, stumbling forward and almost slipping in a dirty puddle.
âDO IT!â
Trust in Vermax, just as you trust in your Jace.
âDracarys.â You whispered finally and closed your eyes.
Vermax surged forward with a furious roar, one sharp claw in the ground, his wing shielding you from the scenery. Nearly pushing you out of the way, he advanced on the men who had threatened you with a snarl and warmth filled the large cave, fire burning low in his green-scaled stomach.
A horrible realization flickered over their faces as the green beast drew closer, their backs hitting the wall behind them as they looked at you one last time. âYou fucking cunt-â
Vermax wiped out their miserable existence with one single breath of fire. Heat tore through the cave and you stumbled backwards as the dragon fire burned them and the scent of roasted human flesh reached your nose.
You squeezed your eyes shut and buried your face in your hands as you listened to their screams. Their agony bounced off the stone walls and heat crept down your spine, but Vermax kept you close, the leathery feel of his wing a small comfort against your skin.
Suddenly, silence rang in your ears.
You dared to peek up over the protective curl of Vermaxâ wings.
Where your captors had stood, only ashes and bones remained.
Vermax let out a self-satisfied growl, clearly pleased with what he had unleashed on the terrors. He bent down, blinking at you with his sharp eyes as if to make sure you were alright. Tears, both from the shock and gratitude, filled your eyes and you leaned your forehead against his snout, trying to take deep breaths to steady yourself.
You shrunk back as you heard footsteps in the caves, hurried steps running over gravel and through the water puddles, a flame throwing a long shadow over the walls. You felt Vermax tense, his wing drawing itself tighter around you. Any other threat advancing, heâd burn to the ground.
In the next moment, Jacaerys stormed into the chamber, his sword drawn as his other hand held a lit torch. His chest was heaving, sweat gathering at his hairline as he quickly took in the state of the room. He looked like he had run the length of the castle and you knew it likely had been the case.
Vermax snarled without threat, greeting his rider and lifting his wing to present you to your love.
Your eyes met and you let out a shuddering breath.
The sight of you was a thousand daggers to his heart.
Your face was smeared with soot and the blood from your split lip coated your chin, your hair unruly and disheveled from the way they had grabbed and dragged you along. Your silk dress was dirty and you shivered against the cold of the cave as you slung your bruised arms around yourself.
Behind you, Vermax hovered like a protective shadow and waited, willing to serve with Jacaerys now here with you.
As he took a step towards you, his boot made contact with the skulls of the assassins. Two of them, he realized and the rage surging through his veins was all-consuming. He looked down at their bones and wished to go back in time to kill them himself, over and over again until not even these mortal remains stayed behind.
But his own bloodlust vanished as he raced towards you, your own legs unsteady and finally giving out under you just as he reached you.
He fell to the ground with you in his arms, holding you tightly as you clawed your hand in his clothes, his heart breaking for you right underneath your tight grip. It was like any last strength in you had left, leaving you a broken and sobbing mess in his embrace.
âYouâre safe, youâre safeâŚâ Jace murmured into your ear, softly swaying you back and forth as you wept, the adrenaline and shock from the situation finally crashing down on you with full force. âNothing is going to happen to you, Iâm hereâŚâ
The Queen and the dragon keepers found the prince and his princess just like this.
Jacaerys was kneeling on the ground, the princess dissolved in tears in his arms and the ill-tempered beast that had saved his love curled around them, chortling comfortingly as the prince stroked her hair and whispered sweet nothings in her ear.
Ë ŕź ŕłâ・Ë
You had been escorted back to the castle, but you couldnât say you remembered much from the journey. Your mind had gone into an odd state of survival, the girl from before the attack having retreated into a far corner of your mind.
The guards, now dead because of you, had been carried away in front of your door and you had stopped in the middle of the hallway, not able to go another step as you stared at the spot where maids were now scrubbing the blood from the floor.
âCome on, my dear.â Rhaenyra had gently told you and you tore your eyes away from the scene as your Queen and Jacaerys led you into his chambers instead. The warmth and unique scent of Jaceâs quarters â the smell of old parchment and books, mingled with the wax of the candles and the smell of his sheets â enveloped you and you drew the cloak Jace had draped over your shivering form tightly around you.
Now, a little later, you were seated at Jaceâs work table and blankly stared at your scraped hands in your lap.
Jacaerys had instantly expressed his dislike for an interrogation at this hour of the night, but you had shaken your head, willing to recount the situation to Rhaenyra as if words could wash away the poison they had brought onto you. Your skin felt coated with it and you feared the stain might never go away again.
Yet, you had told her and Jace what happened, slowly and quietly, and when you were done, Rhaenyra was holding your hand and Jacaerys looked as if he wanted to break something.
âMy brave girl.â Rhaenyra murmured and softly cupped your cheek as she looked at the bruises on your face and neck. âYouâve fought enough for tonight, darling. Iâll call the maids and healers and-â
âNo.â You cut her off, shivering at the prospect of unfamiliar hands on you, seeing the evidence of what had happened on your naked skin. You swallowed hard, your eyes filling with unshed tears again. âNo one else. Itâs- itâs alright, I can do it myself, I really can-â
Rhaenyra smiled sadly at you. âYou are hurt, my dear.â
âIâm not broken.â You insisted, although you felt like it. You were shattered pieces on the ground.
âAnd no one says so, dear.â
Jacaerys, sensing you were on the verge of breaking down, knelt down next to your chair and caught your gaze with his. âI can help, if you want.â He offered quietly.
You looked back at him, conflicted. If Jace stayed, thereâd come the point where heâd see the damage you had taken and you did not know what troubled you more; him seeing you like this or seeing him as his heart shattered for you.
âJace.â Rhaenyra looked at him. âPerhaps a womanâs presence at this time is better suited for her. Iâll fetch you later, I promise, but she needs a moment for herself now, alright?â
He was tense, your beloved prince, but after a moment he nodded with a set jaw before he stood and looked at you one more time. âIâll wait outside.â
You didnât want to meet his sad expression, so you kept your gaze down as mother and son went to the door, talking in quick and hushed voices before Jace stepped outside and Rhaenyra returned to you.
She leaned down and brushed a little bit of soot from your cheeks, careful not to touch your split lip. âVermax surely knows how to rain down fire on our enemies, hm?â
A weak smile tugged at the corner of your lips. âHe saved me. He knew exactly what was going on the moment I entered and he was intelligent enough to play along until the right moment had come.â
Rhaenyra hummed, offering you a hand to stand up. âAnd still, they only call my sonâs dragon ill-tempered. How does a bath sound? Iâm sure youâd like to step into more comfortable clothes, wouldnât you?â
You nodded, longing for a simple cotton shirt, preferably one of Jaceâs that smelled like home and warmth and safety.
Your future mother-in-law went to the big bath next to Jaceâs bedroom with you, a steaming bath already having been drawn for you.
When you saw her drawing a stool close to the tub, your eyes widened and you were quick to interject: âI-I can do it myself, Your Grace, there is no need for you to-â
âPlease let me help you just as I would help any other child of mine.â She interrupted you kindly and soon after, you gratefully sunk into the bath, your sore muscles relaxing in its warmth.
Rhaenyra helped you tilt your head back and you closed your eyes as warm water flowed over your hair and down your neck, tears of your own silently running down your damp cheeks. Your throat bobbed painfully as you let her work, the Queenâs gentle hands a motherâs comfort as they helped to get rid of the dirt from the caves and a root clinging to your skin.
âI have sent Jace to fetch an ointment for your bruises and cuts.â She told you quietly and you nodded silently, cupping some of your water to rinse off your face, careful not to touch your throbbing lip. âI want you to tell me if I should send him away for the night. You can be honest with me, dear.â
You sniffled, gladly accepting the towel she lent you after helping you out of the bathtub. After a moment, you rasped: âIt is not him I am scared of. Itâs justâŚI know it pains him to see me hurt.â
âHe hurts because he hasnât been there for you, my dear.â Rhaenyra explained softly and you sighed to yourself as you slipped into a silken robe, the fabric easy on the big bruise on your back and arms. Underneath, you already wore one of Jaceâs long shirts, the fabric more of a dress on you. âIf it is one thing I have learned, as someone who loves and is lucky enough to be loved, itâs that healing means accepting the help of others. No one will fault you if you want to be for yourself tonight, but I know Jace will do anything he can to help you recover from this, no matter what that might look like.â
You did not want to be alone.
You feared it, laying down in bed once again when the door could open at any moment and reveal the terrors, although Jacaerys had doubled the amount of guards outside his door, simply so youâd feel safe.
You wanted to feel sheltered and able to move past this with the one you loved more than anything else, the one who had first thought about when your life had been in grave danger.
You needed Jacaerys.
âJace may come in again.â You said quietly, suppressing the urge to groan with every step. You had not seen it yet, but the pain the stone thrown to your back caused felt like a flare and you were sure the spot was already turning a deep shade of purple.
Rhaenyra led you towards Jaceâs bed, seemingly pleased with your decision. âIâll make my leave then. Sleep in tomorrow, the both of you. You need all the rest you can get.â
âThank you, Your Grace.â You squeezed her hand in yours, bowing your head in gratitude. âAnd thank you for helping me.â
She smiled at you one last time, although there was a strain to it, her worry over a sneak attack like this consuming her mind. Tomorrow theyâd speak about this in council, but tonight sheâd let her son do the rest, his wide eyes meeting hers when she opened the door and let him in.
You turned around to look at him, your damp hair falling over your shoulder and his clothes, a princess despite the cuts and bruises on your skin. Jacaerys slowly walked to you and your heart stung when you noticed his blood-shot eyes and how pale he still was. He was tense all over, yet he softened as he came to a stop in front of you.
âWhere does it hurt?â He asked quietly, looking for your honesty and not a false promise towards him.
You let out a shaky breath and leaned into him.
For a moment, you simply stood in front of each other, forehead against forehead and breathing each other in. Hot tears welled up in your shut eyes, his closeness rescuing and suffocating you at once. Jaceâs nose touched yours and his soft curls tickled your cheeks and for a second, you thought that everything might be alright again when the morning came.
âMy back. My cheek and wristsâŚâ You whispered, your breath tickling his lips. âI know Iâve bathed and changed and Iâm safe in your rooms, butâŚit feels like theyâve put me apart and Iâve been assembled back together wrongly.â
He shook his head, swallowing against his own lump in his throat. âYou could never be wrong, my love.â
Your bottom lip wobbled dangerously, only doubling the pain in the cut grazing it. âIâve been so scared, Jace. When they entered my room- Anything couldâve happened, they couldâve done anything to me-â
You gasped both in relief and sorrow as his arms pulled you against him, the hug both grounding and warm, something you thought youâd lost forever mere hours ago. You were too exhausted to cry once more, but the horror over what else couldâve been done to you shook you to your very core.
âIâm never going to let something like this happen again.â Jace promised you darkly as he tightened his arms around you, soothingly brushing his hand through your hair as you rested the unwounded side of your face against his heart. âYou will never have to be afraid again, I promise. I shouldâve been there, I shouldâve stopped them-â
âYou didnât know they were here.â You reminded him, but you could feel the fury radiating off his body, an all-consuming rage deeply rooted in him. âNo one did. No one is to blame except for the ones who sent them, Jace.â
âAnd they will pay.â You could practically feel the daggers he was glaring at the wall behind you. But just after a moment, you felt his anger deflate as he softly kissed the top of your head and gently lifted your chin so he could look at you. âYouâve been fighting all alone tonight, but I am here now and I want to be of use, beloved. Will you let me help?â
âI donât want to upset you.â You almost bit your lip before you remembered the pain.
His gaze softened endlessly and he tucked a damp strand of your hair behind your ear. There were lots of tangled emotions inside of him still, but he saw you, this sweet delicate girl he had fallen for ever since the beginning and knew he had to take care of you now. âYou could never upset me, my beautiful strong princess.â
The words were mending on your shaken soul and you closed your eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath before you let him to his work.
âThe maester said the salve might be a little cool on the skin.â Jace murmured and you nodded in understanding. âAnd he gave me ice, scratched from the old side of the islandâs cliffs, for your cheek.â
You took the dripping bundle from his hand, sighing as the cold cloth touched your cheek, the swelling subtle so far yet inevitable to strengthen throughout the night. But every bruise and cut on your body was better than not living to see the sun rise in the morning. âI could apply the salve on my own?â
Jace shook his head. âLet me do this for you.â
He walked with you to his bed, helping you sit down as he knelt before you, devotion shimmering in his eyes. You realized that he needed this just as much as you did, to prove himself he was able to take care of you now, even if he had not been there for you then.
He cupped your healthy cheek as you covered the other one with your ice. âShould we start with your back?â
Jace helped you lift the fabric, only so much so he could see where the stone had struck you, a dull bruise blossoming right next to your spine. It was nothing he had not yet seen so far, still you felt self-conscious under his attentive eyes.
You held very still as Jacaerys began to carefully apply the ointment to the bruise, his finger drawing soft and soothing circles over the blue spot. His other hand touched your waist, just barely underneath the fabric of his shirt on you and you closed your eyes as the cooling sensation drew a little pain from you and let it vanish.
âGood?â
âFeels goodâŚâ You murmured and tried to crawl into the feeling, the tiny relief washing away a little of the darkness from before. With a small kiss to your nape, he let the shirt fall and cover you again.
Next came your sore wrists. He lifted both of them, seeing the red marks where the tight rope had cut into your skin and swallowing hard. He wanted to unleash Vermax on the dusty bones of your captors again until their remains were annihilated from this earth. Jace softly kissed both of them before he dipped his fingers into the small jar again and repeated his careful motions.
You made a small sound in your throat and he stopped instantly.
âToo hard?â
You shook your head. âMy lipâŚâ
He sat down beside you, the mattress dipping underneath his weight and bringing you closer to him. The cut wasnât pretty, but no cut was and you did not shy away from him as he took in the damage, one of his hands still rubbing circles into your wrist.
You held your breath as his coated thumb touched your bottom lip, his touch light as a feather as the cooling salve instantly mended the throbbing. Your hand reached up to hold his wrist, not ready yet to let him go when his touch felt infinitely good for your aching body. There was nothing sexual about the way you breathed against the pad of his thumb, relishing his care and simply letting it wash over you, and for a while you were simply content like this, Jacaerys remaining close to you as you breathed through the slowly ebbing pain.
âDo you want me to braid your hair for the night?â He asked quietly like he had so many times before.
Your wonderful beloved Jace. You nodded gratefully as he shuffled once more on the bed and sat behind you. Kissing the back of your head and brushing your hair over your shoulders for you, he got to work.
Your body was lulled into relaxation as his fingers combed through your hair, loosely braiding it so you wouldnât have to wake up with tangles and knots in the morning. His warmth was a comfort against your back and if the vicious bruise hadnât been there, you wouldâve leaned back against him, ready to melt into his tenderness.
âVermax saw right through them.â You spoke up after a while, your eyelids drooping from time to time from exhaustion as Jace finished up his braid for you. âHe didnât let them see at first, but there was a moment where I knew he was going to protect me, that he knew what was happening.â
âHe loves you as if you were his own rider.â Jace mumbled, affection for you and his dragon in his voice. âI am glad he had been there for you when I wasnât.â
âI want the finest sheep the shepherds can organize for tomorrow.â You looked over your shoulder with determination and Jacaerys frowned at you, a question in his eyes. You welcomed the small sting your lip caused you when its corner lifted up into a weak smile: âI want Vermax to be rewarded for defending his riderâs princess so honorably.â
âAnd Iâd be honored to be the one to select it for you, my princess.â Jaceâs face darkened, fury swirling in his brown orbs. âI still wish they wouldâve suffered more. They deserved much more than a quick death of fire.â
His revengeful words were nothing against the soft touch with which he doted on you and when he was done and brushed his fingers once more over your hair, your body wanted to sink into his pillows and melt into them.
Jace laid down with you, carefully adjusting his position beside you so he wouldnât accidently bump into your sore body. You exhaled deeply when your head touched his pillow, smelling so comfortingly of him. You could not bear to lie on your back, so you snuggled into Jaceâs bed on your stomach, hugging his pillow and turning your head so you could look at your love.
He was resting on his side, his brown eyes searching for any discomfort you might have. Your eyes flickered over his shoulder, towards the door of his chambers.
âYou are safe now, I promise.â Jace whispered and leaned forward, pressing a small kiss to your nose. âThere are five guards outside and my sword leans against the bed. Iâm here. Nothing bad will ever befall you again, my love, I swear it with my life.â
You gave him a tiny nod and tried to relax, although it was hard to keep the shadows lingering in the corners of the room at bay. You wiggled one of your hands out from under the pillow and found his, tugging him closer until his lean body warmed your side, one of his hands resting securely on your lower back.
âTomorrow, I want to take a walk to the cliffs.â You whispered, longing for the fresh air and its cleansing effect.
Jacaerys smiled. âThen it will be arranged. Does my princess wish for any company?â
You nodded timidly, his playful undertone distracting you from the dull throb underneath the ointments. âAnd I want to have a picnic if the sun is out, with all my favorite things.â
âIâll tell the kitchens then, first thing in the morning. Theyâll be happy to please their future queen.â
âAnd when Iâm healed, I want you to kiss meâŚâ Your eyes drooped, the exhaustion from the night overpowering the little anxiety that remained in you.
âYour wish is my command...â Jacaerys mumbled back, his eyes on you as you slowly drifted off into a well-deserved sleep. He had not been entirely honest with you, there were many things he wanted to do.
He watched you sleep beside him, the most innocent sweet being he knew, covered with his warm clothes and bruises on your skin. Jace still held your hand and was not willing to let it go for the rest of the night.
At the soonest time, heâd convene a council meeting and strengthen the security around Dragonstone. He already had caught word of Daemon wreaking havoc on the guard unions patrolling around the castle for not being more attentive, for the princess was one of his favorite people in this family and Jace knew heâd have an ally for his cause.
Heâd take his revenge for you.
But for now, he knew you needed him more than ever, and tomorrow heâd do his best to make you happy again.Â
He could almost see it in the dark of the room, your eyes closed blissfully against the sunbeams, your hair dancing with the wind as you walked hand in hand as you had done so many times as children. Youâd eat ripe peaches and cake and slowly, this incident would move past you until it was only what it was; a shadow in the corner, in the dead of nightâŚ

A Life Worth Fighting For
Five Hargreeves x Fem!reader
A/N: It's time we all got our five back. Five needs y/n, in every timeline. If I'm honest, I don't want to read anything more about this Five/Lila relationship. For me that never happened. From now on I'll be posting the stories that I've already finished writing
Warnings: spoilers for season 4 episode 5-6
The air shimmered with energy as Five and Lila landed in yet another timeline, they found themselves in a cozy, well-kept house that radiated warmth and comfort. The scent of fresh coffee hung in the air, mingling with the subtle fragrance of flowers from somewhere nearby.
Lila glanced around, her brow furrowed with suspicion. âThis doesnât look like any of the timelines weâve been to,â she muttered, her hand instinctively moving toward the handle of the knife strapped to her thigh. âToo quiet, too⌠perfect.â
Five didnât respond immediately. He was scanning the room, his sharp eyes taking in every detail. The polished wooden floors, the cushy furniture, the family photos lining the wallsâit was all so domestic, so ordinary. It felt like the calm before a storm, and after seven years of battling against the odds in a timeline where everything was wrong, he couldnât trust it.
âWe need to be careful,â Five said finally, his voice low. âThis place looks safe, but itâs too familiar. We could be in one of those timelines where somethingâs just a bit off.â
âLike that time where your younger self shot at us??â Lila quipped, her lips curving into a smirk that didnât reach her eyes.
âExactly,â Five replied, the memory flashing through his mind. âLetâs find out where we are and whoâs running the show here.â
Just as he was about to suggest searching the house, the door to the living room swung open. Both Five and Lila instinctively tensed, ready for whatever was about to step through.
But what they saw caught them completely off guard.
Another Five stood in the doorway, looking just as surprised as they were. This version of Five was dressed casually, in a button-down shirt and jeans, a far cry from the suits that the time-traveling Five was used to. He looked⌠settled.
âWhat theââ the other Five started, his eyes narrowing as he processed the scene before him. âWhat are you doing in my house?â
Five stepped forward, his gaze locked onto his counterpart. âWeâre from a different timelineâ he said, his voice steady.
The other Fiveâs eyes widened in recognition, then narrowed again with suspicion. âA different timeline? What do you want?â
Before Five could respond, Lila spoke up, her tone laced with annoyance. âListen, mate, we donât want to be here any more than you want us to be. Weâre just trying to get back to our own timeline, but weâve been stuck in the wrong one for seven years. Seven years!â
The other Fiveâs expression softened slightly, though the wariness didnât leave his eyes. âSeven years? What happened?â
Five took a deep breath, trying to steady himself as memories of those long, grueling years came rushing back. âWe got trapped,â he explained, his voice quieter now. âNo way out. We were stuck there for what felt like a lifetime. And⌠well, we ended up together.â
For a moment, there was silence. The other Fiveâs eyes flicked between his counterpart and Lila, his expression growing darker with each passing second. âYou ended up together?â he repeated, disbelief coloring his tone. âYou and her?â
Five nodded, bracing himself for the reaction he knew was coming.
The other Fiveâs jaw tightened, and without warning, he stepped forward and smacked his counterpart on the back of the head. âWhat the hell is wrong with you?â he snapped, his voice a mix of anger and incredulity. âDo you even know what youâve done?â
Lilaâs eyes flashed with anger, but Five raised a hand to stop her from retaliating. âI didnât have a choice,â he said, though even as he spoke the words, he knew how weak they sounded.
âThereâs always a choice!â the other Five shot back, his anger unabated. âYouâre telling me that in seven years, you never once thought about the consequences? About Diego? Heâs her husband in our timeline, for Christâs sake! They have three kids together!â
Five flinched at the mention of Diego, a pang of guilt stabbing through him. âI don't have a girlfriend or wife,â he said defensively, the words tumbling out before he could stop them. âI have no one.â
At this, the other Fiveâs anger seemed to shift, turning into something more like pity. He sighed, running a hand through his hair. âBecause you gave up,â he said quietly. âYou gave up on yourself, and you gave up on your family.â
For a long moment, Five couldnât find the words to respond. The weight of what his counterpart was saying pressed down on him like a lead blanket. Had he really given up? Had he allowed himself to lose sight of everything that mattered because he was too tired, too lost, to keep fighting?
The silence between them grew heavy, filled with all the unspoken regrets and what-ifs of a life that could have been.
âLook,â the other Five said, his voice softer now, âI know how easy it is to get lost in this mess, to lose sight of who you are and what you want. But you canât just throw everything away because things get hard. You have to fight for what matters.â
Five looked down, his hands curling into fists at his sides. He wanted to believe that it wasnât too late, that he could still find the life heâd always wanted, the love heâd convinced himself was out of reach. But the last seven years had left him scarred, beaten down by a world that had taken so much from him.
His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of laughter coming from outside. He looked up and saw that the other Five was gazing out the large bay window, a small smile on his lips.
Five followed his gaze and felt his heart clench at the sight that greeted him.
In the garden, a beautiful pregnant woman was playing with a little girl, who looked to be around four years old. The womanâs laughter was like music, her face glowing with happiness as she twirled the giggling child around in her arms. The little girl had a mop of dark hair and eyes that sparkled with mischiefâeyes that Five recognized all too well.
âThatâs Y/n,â the other Five said softly, his voice filled with warmth. âAnd thatâs our daughter, Maddie.â
Five stared at him, his mind reeling. âI want what you have,â he said finally, his voice barely a whisper. âI want⌠her.â
The other Five nodded, his expression firm but not unkind. âThen fight for it,â he said. âDonât give up on yourself. Donât give up on her.â
Fiveâs throat tightened as he watched them, his heart aching with a longing he hadnât allowed himself to feel in years. This was it. This was what he had wanted, what he had fought so hard to protect but had never truly believed he could have. A family. A home. A life filled with love.
He could have had this. He could have had her.
âI canât believeâŚâ Five started, but his voice broke, and he had to swallow the lump in his throat. âI canât believe I gave this up.â
âYou didnât,â the other Five said, placing a hand on his shoulder. âNot yet. You still have a chance to find her. You still have a chance to make this life your own.â
Five closed his eyes, trying to block out the overwhelming tide of emotions threatening to drown him. He didnât deserve thisâthis kindness, this hope. But he wanted it more than anything. He wanted to find his y/n, to have his own Maddie, to fight for a life worth living.
When he opened his eyes again, he found the other Five watching him, a knowing look in his eyes.
âGo,â the other Five said gently. âFind her. Fight for her.â
Five nodded, and then turned to Lila, who had been watching the exchange in silence. She looked at him with a mixture of sadness and understanding, knowing that whatever they had shared was over.
âWe should go,â Five said softly, his eyes meeting Lilaâs. her expression unreadable, and with a final nod to the other five, he teleported them both away, leaving the other Five standing alone in the quiet house.
A few moments later, the front door opened, and Y/n and Maddie walked in, their faces flushed with happiness from their time in the garden. Y/n smiled warmly at Five, the love in her eyes undeniable as she approached him.
âEverything okay?â she asked, a note of concern in her voice as she noticed the tension in his posture.
Five looked at her, his heart swelling with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and love. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close as he kissed her gently on the lips.
âEverythingâs perfect,â he murmured against her lips, his voice filled with emotion. âIâm just⌠so happy that I have you. Youâre my one true love, y/n. No one else. Just you.â
Y/n smiled, her eyes shining with love as she leaned into his embrace. âI love you too,â she whispered, resting her head against his chest.
Five held her close, the weight of everything that had just happened slowly fading away as he focused on the warmth of her body against his, the sound of her heartbeat, the soft rise and fall of her breath. This was his life, his family, his everything.
And he wouldn't give that up for anything in the world...timeline or not.

Part 2
Growing up in the Covey had been a stroke of luck, simple as it gets, when Lucy Gray Baird and her family had been forced into District 12 Seeing the talent you had with a guitar one night as you played to the darkness, they took you to their next show where you played alongside Lucy Gray. She was still the star, she had the smile, the voice, the charisma. You could sing when you needed to, and you played the guitar just as well, but she always took the spotlight. And when she strolled into town after winning the Hunger Games, that star power only grew. She was the star, until one sunny morning.
Mockingjay's sang into the wind, the warm sun beating against your skin and the gentle breeze made your sundress flow in the wind. Meeting Lucy and the others on the walk to the lake you came face to face with Coriolanus Snow. Buzzed blonde hair, sharp jawline and the bluest eyes you had ever seen. His smile was bright, and his laugh was as sweet as Lucyâs singing. And it should be, he was laughing at her jokes. Smiling at her. Before he could catch you staring your eyes had shifted quickly, focussing on Lucy as you walked to her side.
She beamed as she saw you, wrapping her arms tightly around you.
âCoriolanus, I want you to meet only the bestest person in the world,â Lucy went on, kissing you quickly on the cheek.
The same smile returned as he turned to shake your hand, his skin soft on your calloused palms. âItâs nice to finally meet you.â He spoke your name softly, the syllables dripping from his tongue like honey. Your hand slipped from his, the tips of his fingers running along your palm.
Lucy quickly ushered you and the rest of the group on, starting the long hike down the green hills. Lucy walked ahead with Aurora, talking wistfully into the wind. You walked in silence, one hand gripping the strap of your satchel as you watched the critters race up the branches of the trees.
âLucy said you played the guitar,â Coriolanus spoke up, swatting away another mosquito. He walked beside you, his tall figure blocking the sun from your face. He looked down at you, his eyebrows furrowing slightly. âWhy didnât I see you performing last night?â
You simply shrugged. The answer was the crowds didnât cheer for you, Lucy was the star, and she could play for hours without backup. But it sounded sad. You looked over the trees, the Mockingjay's flying higher into the trees. âNothing special, you probably just missed me when I left.â
Coriolanus shook his head softly, âI feel like Iâd remember you.â You couldnât place what Coriolanus meant, your eyebrows furrowing as you thought over his words. You didn't say anything more after that, keeping your eyes ahead on the track leading to the lake.
As soon as the dock was close enough Aurora and Tip had stripped their clothes off and thrown themselves in the water. You tossed your bag down, the hot sun that had beat against your skin had made you more than happy to rush into the water. Tossing your sundress aside with your satchel you ran down the dock and dove under the crystal blue water. The cool lake chilled your skin enough to relieve the sun but not enough to raise goosebumps.
You swam up to the surface, pushed the hair back for your face and fixed the straps of your handmade bra that slid down your shoulder. Lucy jumped in after you, and with a yell, Coriolanus jumped in, the splash of water hitting your face. You laughed, using your arms to keep you afloat. Coriolanus muttered an apology through a smile, but you barely noticed as your eyes fell over his light skin, his collar bones and muscular shoulders.
The lake was sweet, a nice relief from the constant smell of coal and sweat, the rowdy crowds and the smell of liquor on everyone's breath. Some time later Lucy had swam to shore, helping Aaroa and Tip fish and dig up Katniss' roots.
You floated on your back, the gentle waves lapping at your skin as the sun warmed your face. Coriolanus sat on the edge of the dock, toying with his fingers as he watched you. The wind blew the waves softly, the sun reflecting on your skin like liquid gold. He pushed himself off the dock, slipping below the cold water once again. âCan I hear you sing?â His voice made you turn your head to look at him.
âI donât sing,â You muttered, turning your head to face the sun again.
âLucy said you sing.â
You turned to swim properly, treading water. âIf you wanna hear someone sing you should ask Lucy,â You insisted. You pushed yourself closer, slipping your fingers under the slim metal chain of his dog tags, untangling the knot. You moved it to hang properly from his neck, your nails dragging ever so slightly across his soft skin.
His icy blue eye moved from your hand on his skin and looked up at your face, droplets of water falling from your hair, and slipping down your skin and when they hit your lips, you swiped them away with your tongue. âI wanna hear you sing.â His eyes snapped up to meet yours as you lifted her gaze from the metal chain.
You chuckled softly and he swore it sounded like the sweetest melody, a honeydew sound that he couldn't help but smile at. âYouâre funny Coriolanus Snow,â you said softly. âTurning down the winner of the Hunger Games. A true victor.â
Coriolanus wiped a hand down his face, wiping away the water running over his eyes. âWhat about you?â He asked.
You shook your head softly. âSheâs the star, the songbird,â You insisted, unsure you were convincing him or yourself. His smile made your stomach flip, his gaze made your cheeks burn, but his words⌠his honey words.
His hand slowly reached out, his fingers slipping beneath the strap of your bra and sliding it back up your shoulder. His hand lingered there for a moment before falling back into the water. âLuckily I like roses.â

~~
Your breath left you, lungs emptying of every comfort until they felt tight and constrained. You might have made a soundâmight have gaped as Azrielâs eyes darted across every square inch of your face to gauge a reaction.Â
Mate.Â
Had he saidâ
âWhat?â you finally choked out.Â
Azriel shook his head with a pained furrow of his brow. âI didnât want to tell you like this.â His hands steadied as they cradled your cheeksâstability in a time of utter confusion. âBut I had to, y/n. You⌠I needed you to understand why I care so much. Why I want you to let me care. Why youâŚâÂ
His words trailed off.Â
Something compelled you to reach up and wrap your fingers around his wrists. You stared into his eyes with nothing to offer him but the uncertainty and poorly disguised hope edging considerably closer to the surface.Â
âWhy I what, Azriel?âÂ
Azriel licked his lips before he spoke, mouth dry at the prospect of the conversation. âWhy you can tell me. Everything. You can trust me with everything there is to know about you and Melanie. I wouldnâtâI would protect the both of you. Over anything.âÂ
You felt a piece of you deflate. Azrielâs fingers slightly spasmed against your skin as your shoulders slumped.Â
âYou canât promise me that, Azriel,â you sullenly replied. âYou work for the High Lord. You canât promise me you would keep things from him for my benefit. I canât trust thatââÂ
âY/n, you are my mate,â Azriel emphasized, eyes wide and pleading. âI know you canât feel it yet within you but it has been carved into my chest from the moment we locked eyes. The way the bond pulls each time I see youâthe way it screams at me to keep you safe. I canâtâŚâÂ
His words broke off as he spoke themâcracked and fractured and desperate.Â
Azriel cleared his throat and started over.Â
âThere are two things you should know. First, the High Lord and LadyâRhysand and Feyreâthey would never do anything to put you in danger.â You opened your mouth to argue, but Azriel gently spoke over the rebuttal. âThey would never. They do not even know you but you are my mate. As an extension, you are their family. Whatever it is you are running from, they would go to lengths to run with you.âÂ
âYou canât promiseââÂ
âI can. And I am. Because the second thing you should know is that I have waited for my mate for centuries. I have dreamed of you and wanted you and I donât know if that scares you but I hope it can be some consolation.âÂ
The kitchen lulled into a silence punctuated by your heaving breaths, the unsteady sound countering Azrielâs flickering wings as he stood before you. You had no words for him, nothing to rectify the worried way he captured your gaze with his own.Â
Your instinct fought against everything he said.Â
To put all of your trust into Azrielâall of it. To make him an integral part of Melanieâs life, of yours.Â
Could you? Was being his mate enough? You didnât feel the pull yet, the indescribable ache that caused the desperation on Azrielâs face.Â
ââand,â Azrielâs voice was low but startling as his eyes shifted to land on the wall behind your head. âItâs not just the bond. Itâs you. I care about you, y/n. I care about Mel. I canât go back to acting so casual about that. I want to be all in with two of you. My life has⌠itâs changed. Itâs different now, because of you.âÂ
He found your eyes again.
Something shifted in your chest, but it didnât snap.Â
You wanted him to be all in, but something still needed to be aligned.Â
You had heard stories about mates in the pastâabout mates that had children before the bond had made itself known. The stories did not end well and they certainly did not match the pleading way Azriel held you or the hopeful pool of hazel that his eyes had dipped into.Â
âWhat about Melanie?â you whispered, squeezing his wrist with your fingers because although he had included her in all of his pinings, you needed to hear him say it.Â
Azriel adjusted his stance and blinked at you as if you were speaking another language. âWhat about Melanie, angel?âÂ
His soft-spoken endearment was like a punch to the gut. âW-Would you love her the same? Even though she isnât yours? Iâve heard what can happen withââÂ
âI donât care about thatâIâve never cared. I canât imagine looking at her and not loving her, y/n. She is so much of you.âÂ
A loaded breath left you as you leaned forward and rested your forehead on Azrielâs collar. You were still sick, still exhausted, and this overwhelming display of affection and devotion was filling you more than you thought you could handle. You released your hold on his wrists to bunch your fists into the front of his shirt. Azriel acted instantly, one hand coming to the back of your head while the other rested along your back.Â
âI want to trust you,â you promised. âI do. It just might take time. I canâtâI donât think I can tell you yet. I donât know why, I justââÂ
âI know, y/n. You donât have to tell me. Just⌠just let me in. Let me be here.âÂ
~~
The rest of the day moved slowly.Â
Azriel stayed.Â
When Melanie woke up from her nap, a walk was introduced, Azriel proclaiming that the group had spent entirely too much time inside and fresh air was needed to fight the remaining sickness. That suggestion was met with a raised brow from Melanie who argued that sleep was supposed to be what made us better, Mr. Azriel. Why do you keep changing it?
You had watched the interaction with new eyes; the way she squinted up at him with a skeptical gaze and the way he stared down at her with a smile so wide it looked as if it hurt. Did he smile that broadly all the time? You hardly saw him in any public context, so it was difficult to know.Â
You doubted he did.Â
He smiled at you the same way when you teased him for Melanieâs benefit.Â
The walk was soothing and beautiful and Azriel had wrapped two scarves around Melanieâs neck before he let her get out the door. She had huffed and pointed at his own neck, frustrated that he wasnât wearing a scarf, but his shadows answered for him as they whisked around Melanieâs eyes and turned her around.Â
As she giggled, Azriel shrugged a jacket over your shoulders.Â
âItâs not that cold, you know,â you commented later as footsteps echoed along cobblestone. âI donât know if she needed both scarves.âÂ
âCanât be too careful. Wouldnât want her to get more sick.âÂ
âWe arenât that kind of sick, Az.âÂ
âI know.â He tore his gaze from Melanie and directed it towards you. âBut I canât do anything about Autumn fever. I can, however, make sure the two of you donât catch a cold.âÂ
You pressed your lips inwards and breathed through the fluttering in your chest as he looked upon you. His gaze was unabashedly admiring and you couldnât remember if heâd looked at you like that before heâd told you you were mates, or if he had been holding himself back before.Â
âI am from the Autumn Court,â you thought to say, if only to quell some of the strange feeling in your chest. âAlthough, you already knew that. Your healer kind of gave it away.âÂ
âYou donât have toââÂ
âI want to,â you interrupted. You looked out towards Melanie as you skirted along the Sidra, your daughter kneeling by the shore to look in at the fish. âMaybe not all of it at once. But for now, Iâm from the Autumn Court. I came to Velaris when I found out I was pregnant.âÂ
You shoved your hands into the pocket of the jacket Azriel had placed on your shoulders. You realized it wasnât yours when your knuckles swam in the space. And the scent of night-kissed air delicately wafted up.
Azriel said nothing as you collected your thoughts. He simply watched Melanie giggle and dip her fingers in the water.Â
âUm, I came under duress, obviously. The circumstances of my pregnancy werenât exactly optimal and there were several people that would have been⌠more than upset that I was pregnant.âÂ
âWhat does that meanâupset?âÂ
âSeveral things. They could have taken Melanie from me, made me end the pregnancy when I didnât want to, sent me into hiding for shame. I didnât stick around to find out which horror-fueled thought would come to fruition.âÂ
âIs that who youâre running from?âÂ
You tilted your head to the side as a light breeze swept past your skin. Azriel was already looking at you with an intensity that felt out of place compared to the joyful laughs that flowed from the child by the water. But that was good, you reminded yourself, you were keeping her away from all of these harsh realities for as long as possible.Â
âYes.â
âCan I askââ
âNo.â You were quick to cut him off. Your tone wasnât mean or harsh; it was exhausted. âYou can't ask who or whyânot yet. I havenât actually said any of those names aloud since I left. That part might⌠take me a while.âÂ
âThatâs okay,â Azriel softly reassured. He took a half step towards you, hesitated, but then fought against that and wrapped an arm around your shoulders, tugging you into his chest. âI just need to know what Iâm up against. If you think they know where you are or if theyâre still looking for you.âÂ
Melanie had begun throwing rocks into the Sidra, the sound of the stones plopping into the water mingling with silence and birds chirping.Â
âI donât think they know where I am,â you mumbled into his chest. It was so easy to stay there. âBut I think theyâre still looking. I donât think theyâll stop.âÂ
You felt Azrielâs lips press against the crown of your head. His chin found a home there as you both shifted to watch Melanie.Â
âOkay. Okay, thatâs fine.âÂ
âIs it? You didnât exactly sign up for this.âÂ
âI signed up for you. Whatever that entails.âÂ
A calm silence washed over the scene by the Sidra. Azriel brought his other arm around to hold you closer to his chest and you let him, seamlessly sinking into his hold. Melanie was none the wiser to the conversations behind her as she began dropping sticks and leaves into the water.Â
Azriel kissed your hair once more.Â
âIt could be saferââ Azriel began, words laced with reproach. ââif some of the Inner Circle were involved.âÂ
You wrenched yourself back as quickly as the words left his mouth. âNo,â you shook your head vigorously. It made an ache bloom at the base of your neck. âNo, no court involvement. You canât tell them anything. You canât, Azriel. I know you said it was safe but you donât understand. This canât have anything to do with High Lords or court politics or, orââÂ
âOkay, okayâhey, Iâm sorry. Come here.âÂ
The panic had taken hold of your bearings and inched close to your heart. You reached up to place a hand against the pressure there as Azriel tugged you back against his body and glanced toward Melanie to ensure she hadnât picked up on your stress.Â
âIâm sorry, I wasnât thinking,â he comforted, running his hand down your hair. âNothing with the court, okay? I wonât tell any of them.âÂ
âDo you promise?â you all but whimpered. A tinge of embarrassment seeped under your skin at your actualized panic, but the fear took precedence and Azriel showed no repugnance at your reaction.Â
For a brief, fleeting moment, you considered that a promise didnât really mean anything at allânot before.Â
But, from Azriel, it felt like something.Â
âI promise.âÂ
A small voice then sounded, facilitating the natural end to the sharing you had offered. âAll of the fishies are gone.âÂ
Azriel didnât even attempt to move you away from his chest as he spoke, his words creating vibrations along your body. âThatâs because you keep throwing things at them, Mel.âÂ
âI wasnât throwing things at them. I was trying to offer those things to them.âÂ
You turned to speak to your daughter, Azrielâs arms unmoving around you. âWhy were you offering things to the fish?âÂ
âJust in case theyâre water gods. Ms. Fern tolds us about them in school. If you make them offerings then they protect you.âÂ
Your laugh was echoed by Azriel. The two of you shared a smile before you slowly unraveled yourself from him and beckoned your daughter forward. âWell, Iâm sure they were very grateful for your offering. It was probably just their bedtime. Just like itâs almost yours.âÂ
Melanie made a face but didnât argue, instead taking steps past you to stand at Azrielâs feet. âMr. Azriel, is it my turn to cuddle? I donât want to walk all the way home.âÂ
You watched Azrielâs mouth twist into a small smile that was obviously in place of a much larger one. He looked over Melanieâs head to send you a wordless question that you were quick to nod in response to.Â
As if you would tell him no.Â
Azriel reached down to haul your daughter up, settling her against his hip as if heâd done so a hundred times. Melanie rested her head on his chest almost as quickly as heâd grabbed for her, fiddling with a stick she still held in her grasp. You made to walk alongside them and calm your pattering heart, but certain people had other plans.Â
âYou too, mommy,â Melanie called, peaking the side of her face out from Azrielâs chest.Â
âMe too?âÂ
âUh huh. You come too. Mr. Azriel has two arms. And I can hold your hand.â
You sent a knowing glance up to Azriel, but he forwent the snickering and already had his arm open by the time you looked. âIn,â he prompted with raised brows. âAnd you have a hand to hold.â Â
